Weekly Reading List: September 4th

I’m in for a full week. My training shift has changed. I go in an hour earlier. I was already having issues going in at the time I go in. I’m not exactly a morning person. I will make it through. I just have three more weeks of training! My reading schedule is pretty full too. I will be making progress on many books and hopefully finishing quite a few as well. Ideally, I’d like to finish a book a day. However, knowing that I work full time, I know that is not possible. I will still continue to try. Maybe if I keep at the pace I’ve been on lately, I’ll catch up on my reading!

Books on my reading list this week:

I’d love to see what’s on your reading list for the week! What books have you been loving lately?

Bookish Chatter: Readathons

Topic: Readathons

For those of you who know me, I’m completely obsessed with readathons. Lately, I haven’t been fully successful with them. I keep trying though. I will continue to keep on trying as well. They are especially helpful in reading slumps. Some are a day. Some are a weekend long. Some last a week. Some are even a month long.

I actually host a readathon once a month. It’s called a TBR Jar readathon. It’s held in the Facebook group The Introverted Readathoner. The goal behind the readathon is to take some books and put them in a jar or spreadsheet. Whatever the person chooses. When it’s time to pick a read, you pick at random. However, treating it like a normal readathon is okay too. I just find it more fun to do it the at random way.

That’s all I can really think about on this topic. I’d really love to participate in readathons. Please feel free to comment any readathons that you enjoy. If I’m not familiar with them, I will definitely be checking them out! Especially if there are some upcoming!!!

Times are hard. If you would consider helping me out by the links below, I’d really appreciate it.

Bookish Chatter: Book Fairies

Topic: Book Fairies

For those of you who don’t know, book fairies are people who go to another person’s wishlist and send them a book as a gift. I’ve gotten two or three book fairy gifts. I’ve sent quite a few as well. There’s just something amazing about both getting and giving books. I wish I had the money to send more. It would be nice to get more as well. Just saying! LOL!

I really think book fairying is a great way to connect with other readers and share books that you love or that you think they will love. I also recognize there will probably be some negative aspects too. I am sure there are people who beg for people to fairy them and have no intention of passing it on. It happens in many different areas. Not just the book world.

What are your thoughts on book fairying? Do you book fairy? Do you get fairied? Tell me your story!

Got a book topic you want my opinion on? Let me know!

Bookish Chatter: 2022 Book Reviews

I’ve been really lazy with reviews this year. There was a time when I was starting to see writing reviews as a chore. I’ve been writing them up though. I have set up a OneNote for reviews. I have a tab for each month. It’s been really inspiring.

My plans are to write up two reviews a day (if time permits) until I’ve gotten caught up on all reviews. Once I’m caught up, I’ll do my best to write reviews right when I’m done with the book. Also, starting Monday, I’ll be posting a review every day until they are all posted. Once they are all posted, I will post them as I finish books.

I am seriously hoping that writing all of this out and posting it will hold me accountable. We shall see! I’ve been debating in also posting a video review every day as well, but I’m really not sure about that. I’ll put some thought into it!

How are you doing on reviews? Is anybody else slogging through them? What are some tricks you’d give to make reviews less of a dread?

Weekly Wrap Up: 6/12/21

On Monday, I lost my job. For the most part, the decision was mine. It’s not a decision I wanted to make in all honesty. I wanted to be able to reach a compromise that worked for both myself and the company. Sadly, they were unwilling to budge in their decision. It’s okay though. I will move on. I will find another job. Right now, looking for a job is not in my best interest. I’ll be leaving for Texas in about two weeks. I’ll be there until the beginning of August. In August, I’ll be in Savannah for a week and then I’ll be home. I had told my job about this before I officially go the job offer and was told it wasn’t a problem. But I digress. I’m not intending to bash the company. I’m just very disappointed with how things turned out. I know my attendance wasn’t the best, but neither was my health. Things turn out as they should.

Since I lost my job, I have managed to finished nine books. I am on track to finish a lot more. I went from feeling overwhelmed and agitated when I tried to read to getting multiple books read in the span of a few days. It hit me very quickly that the reasons I have been unable to read is that I was facing burn out and stress. This is why I feel like everything is working out as it should.

Other than that, I haven’t really had many things going on in my life this week. Not that that’s a really bad thing. I’m hoping something that works out between now and when I get home. Ideally, I’d like to freelance or be my own boss in something big. Right now, I don’t see that happening. At least not at a full time scale capacity. We will see. Hope everybody has had a fantastic week. Despite how the week started, it’s been an amazing week for me. I’m blessed to have so much support in my life.

Weekly Wrap Up: 6/5/21

This week has been really uneventful in all honesty. I watched some Bull. I got caught up on my buddy read with my mother. I even finally got to listen to some audiobooks that I need to listen to. I had a busy week with work, but nothing majorly eventful in all honesty.

I’ve been struggling with some work related things and some anxieties surrounding it. I don’t see myself holding my job too much longer. I’m struggling with going ahead and looking for a new job or keep fighting and doing everything in my power to keep the job.

I did finally obtain my logo though! It’s so beautiful and I love it very much! I’ve been working on this in the background for a few weeks. It has been well worth the wait in my opinion. Next step is to try to get some business cards printed out. I feel like everything is more official to me now!

I did pick up a new television show. Well new to me. It’s been around for over a decade. It’s based on a book series I love. It only aired for one season. It’s a great show from what I can see so far. As long as I separate it from the book series that is. They are nothing alike. I find that I shouldn’t be surprised. I mean look how far off Along Came a Spider was. Both are by the same author.

Hoping that next week will be more productive than this week. At least I have put the vaccination behind me now. I may be able to go out without a mask now, but I don’t think I will. I think I’ll still go out with a mask. I have a weak immune system. It’s for the best. With or without the pandemic.

Weekly Wrap Up: 5/22/21

Welcome to Weekly Wrap Up. I will discuss how my week has gone. I will include any pictures I’ve taken for the week and my progress in reading. It won’t be all about books. Just my week in general. I’ll also briefly highlight some books I’ve read during the week.

This was my week of nesting. And another week of not really reading as much as I should. I’m the type of person that really thrives on structure and routine. When curve balls happen, it takes me a bit to get back into my normal routine. I’m really ashamed to admit that, but maybe admitting it will help me overcome it and try my best to learn to go with the flow?

The positive note is that I’m finally catching up and getting back into routine! I still have a lot of writing to do and some writing prompts to post, but they will get there. I am feeling more confident and empowered every day. I’ve also found a to do list pad that helps me stay really organized every day. I’ve been pasting the pages to a notebook and writing some sentences to go with it to turn it into a journal. It’s been amazing!

That’s all I can think to talk about for now. Next week, I go back to my normal routine. I also have a follow up appointment for the emergency surgery I had a few weeks ago and I have an eye doctor appointment on Thursday. That’s been a long time coming if I’m being honest with myself.

Weekly Wrap Up: 5/15/21

Welcome to Weekly Wrap Up. I will discuss how my week has gone. I will include any pictures I’ve taken for the week and my progress in reading. It won’t be all about books. Just my week in general. I’ll also briefly highlight some books I’ve read during the week.

This week has been a very productive and unproductive week for me. It’s been very productive because I have been very busy with training for a new department at work. I haven’t really read much. I started the week out strong with reading, but I kind of flopped. I’ve just been really nervous about not doing well on the final. Especially being as the training was only a week.

Weekly Wrap Up: 5/8/21

Welcome to Weekly Wrap Up. I will discuss how my week has gone. I will include any pictures I’ve taken for the week and my progress in reading. It won’t be all about books. Just my week in general. I’ll also briefly highlight some books I’ve read during the week.

So it’s been about two weeks since I posted one of these certain blogs. The week before last, I had an emergency minor surgery. It was nothing major but it definitely put me off the radar for a little bit. I’m feeling way better now. I also decided to go ahead and begin my Covid vaccine. I will get the second round on June 2nd. I’m a little nervous about that one if I’m being completely honest.

I’ve finished three books this month. In the span of two days. I’m a little worried that reading 21 books last month may have taken a toll on me. We shall see. There is a readathon going on next week. So that might help me so much. The theme is to read all books by one author. I’m choosing to read half of the House of Night series. Or going to try to read half of the series anyway. That way I can read the other half of the series next month for their re-read themes.
