Thankful Thursday: 11/18/21

I don’t know if anybody else has made this a thing. I also don’t know if anybody else will do this with me. If not, it’s completely fine. It’s something I want to do every week. I’m going to think of at least one thing I’m thankful for for the week. I’ll try to do up to four a week, but at least one. I think this will be very therapeutic. We shall see in time.

Note: There may be some things that get repeated now and then. My intention is to talk about things I’m thankful for that week. So some things may pop up a few times. I’m not attempting to be redundant or repetitive. Just trying to be genuine.

  1. My new job. I’m not even a week into training and it’s already so much better than many of my previous job. They are very patient and understanding. They are helpful. They even encourage us and answer all of our questions. I’ve had to do more paperwork for this job than I have any other, but it’s been an amazing experience so far. I hope to have many sucessful years with this company.
  2. Being open about myself. I know this may not seem like it means much, but I’ve been shamed for things that I’m interested in or my quirks most of my life. I’ve been made to feel like I’m not enough or that I’m weird. I could go into details, but I’d rather focus on the positives right now. I’m finally starting to feel comfortable in my skin and it’s beautiful.
  3. Acceptance. This is a little broad, but I’ll explain. I couldn’t think of a better way to word it. I like to stay on a certain schedule. When the schedule goes off course, I usually feel really uncomfortable. Lately, I’ve been able to overcome that. I’ve even made alternative plans that work out for me very well. For example, I have a set amount of time to schedule blogs to post the next day. A few days this week I haven’t really felt up to even looking at a computer after training. So I let myself be and I arranged a time the next day to schedule the blogs in before they went live. I’ve had assistance with this transition, and I’m nowhere near “cured”. It’s okay though! Baby steps!
  4. Notes! I love taking notes. It helps me so much. Especially when I have days that I’m not really focusing very well. I write it all down. Once I have better focus, I go back and read through my notes. Most of the time I have to edit the notes and refine them. I’m not even going to lie. They are really helpful though. It jogs my memory and helps me recall it better.

  1. Possibilities. I was so worried about things when I chose to leave my previous job. I was worried it may take some time to get a new job. Every day, I wake up and I learn something new. I get more possibilities for growth and a new chance to grow and thrive. It’s amazing.
  2. Forgivness. I make mistakes. I slide on plans. I get lost sometimes. I lose my temper. I’m so thankful that I can be forgiven. I’m also so thankful to realize that I need to be forgiven.
  3. Books. I know I’m thankful for these quite often. I regret nothing. Books make me happy. I love reading. I love seeing books. I love smelling books. I love talking about books! My whole blog is based on my love of books and reading.
  4. Memories. I haven’t really felt well this past week. Most of my week has been spent just laying around. Allergies are not my friend. Anyways, when you are laying around, you reflect on a lot of things. I’ve relived a lot of memories. They made me feel better!

  1. I’m thankful for being able to secure another job when the job I got didn’t pan out. I thought I was going to love the job I was hired for, but with the pushed start date back and then the rude people who didn’t have the patience for people who didn’t get it… I just couldn’t. I stayed on as long as I could. I was worried about leaving it before securing another job, but I was lucky and got hired this Monday.
  2. Freelance. I may not have a full income with my freelance gigs, but I do have them. I’m so thankful. I knew at the end of the day that even though I was out of my main income that I wasn’t completely unemployed. It helped ease my nerves very much.
  3. Organization. I never realize how off-kilter I get when I don’t have a list of things to do every day. Most people can probably go through the day and get everything done without forgetting anything. I’m just thankful that I’m able to get organized so quickly.
  4. Readathons. I know this sounds really silly, but readathons have really helped me get back into reading in many ways. There is a month-long readathon that had challenges. I have been over the moon that I completed all the challenges for it. If you participate in readathons, you totally get it.

  1. A perfect week! This happened last week, but I am just so thankful that I managed to hit all my fitness goals every day last week! I even surpassed my goals a few days! It’s an amazing feeling that I hope to experience many more times! Sadly, this week won’t be a perfect week. Between allergies and stress, I just haven’t really hit the active goal this week at all. I have hit the other two, so there’s that.
  2. Quality time. I’ve been playing Mario Kart with my Mom and Dustyn. It’s been a pretty amazing time. We even had my brother play with us on Sunday. His birthday was Saturday and I wanted to hang out with him for his birthday. It was the only thing I could think of. Either way, we’ve been having a lot of fun! Mom and I are learning the game so much as well.
  3. A new journey. I’ve picked up a few clients for my freelance work. It’s very exciting. It’s also very nerve wracking. Especially since both of them are friends of mine. I don’t want to do anything to ruin the friendship. It’s going to be a learning experience all the way around. I’m honestly excited to see how this all turns out. I am also praying that I am successful.
  4. Big events. This Saturday is Dewey’s 24-Hour readathon! I have been actively participating in this readathon since 2015. It was honestly the readathon that got me addicted to readathons. To be fair, it was also my very first readathon I ever participated in. The best part is I will actually be co-hosting for a few hours! I’m so excited! Anybody else participating in this wonderful event? I’d love to connect with you there and follow your progress!

  1. Food Prep. I know this sounds like a silly thing to be thankful for. Some days I just get in moods where I don’t want to fix anything. Most of those times I’m starving during that time.
  2. Making lists. I’m finally at a point where I’m getting more organized. I feel like it will help me get some of my back list tackled and accomplished.
  3. Plumbers. We had a problem with our shower for about a week or two. It’s been a nightmare. The day they came and fixed it, I showered immediately after work. It was the best shower ever. We got one of those sprayers that’s supposed to remove hard minerals from the water and make your shower more enjoyable.
  4. Spooky Stories. I’ve been in a reading rut so to speak. I’ve been reading, but way slower than I normally read. I’m enjoying the stories. It’s just nothing is absorbing me. A Lesson in Vengeance really took me out of whatever it was I was in.

  1. Creativity. I have been working on some projects this week. The more I work on it. The more inspired I become. It’s been a very productive week.
  2. Hitting Goals. I have managed to hit my fitness goals every day for three days. It may not seem like a major thing to most people, but I see it as a great accomplishment. I’m looking forward to hitting many more goals from here.
  3. Getting organized. I’ve created a new schedule for myself to go around my work schedule. It has been working wonderfully. Especially since I don’t have it jam packed like I used to. If something spills over, it’s more than okay. What can I say? I love routine.
  4. Erasable Pens. I have a lot of writing that I’ve been doing lately. I guess I write fast. I’m not really sure. I just know I mess up quite a bit. Having erasable pens. I’m weird. I know.

  1. Beautiful Moments. I was caught up in the show that I was watching and the project I was working on when I decided to randomly look over and check on my dog who was sleeping next to me. What I found was so adorable I lost words. He was cuddled up next to my stuffed tiger. It was a beautiful moment to me. I’ve learned not to take beautiful moments for granted. One day they will be gone for good.
  2. Candles. I know this one may seem like a weird thing to be thankful for. It’s just that they are so soothing. I’ve needed a lot of soothing vibes lately. I also feel like I put a lot of positive vibes into the world when I had the candles going. I have had the candles lit most of the day. I need to build a collection of candles soon!
  3. Working. I’ve been without work since June. Mostly because I was worried about trying to learn a new job while out of town. I’m thankful of the job because I love the routine of having a work schedule. The money is wonderful because it pays the bills, but I’m just happy to have routine more than anything.
  4. Embracing who I am. I’ve spent so much of my life trying to pretend to be who I thought I was supposed to be to make everybody happy. The more I discover about myself, the less I worry about making others happy. My real loved ones will accept me for who I am.

I put very serious consideration into skipping this week’s blog. My dog ran away from home and hasn’t been seen in days. At the time of me posting this, he’s been missing for six days. I was so overcome with hurt that I didn’t post blogs like I should. I couldn’t even bring myself to even look at my computer. I still wanted to post all of my normal blogs. Even if I’m posting them late. It’s important to me. The people who take time to read my blogs are important to me.

I want to stress the importance that even though I am finding it hard to find things to be thankful for right now doesn’t mean that I’m not thankful. Right now, I’m letting the heartbreak run its course. While being thankful for things is important, so is letting myself feel emotions that I don’t find particularly pleasant. While I’m thankful I’m alive and have the amazing people in my life that I do, I also recognize that it’s okay to be broken. It’s okay to be not okay.

I know there will be many people out there that probably scoff at me being so openly hurt by my dog running away. That’s okay. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I am not ashamed for how I feel. Shadow is going on four years old. We have had him in our family since he was nine weeks old. In my eyes, he is my baby. I don’t have human children, and to be honest, after this ordeal, I don’t think I ever will. The pain it’s just too much.

I’m thankful to live in a world where I have the freedom to speak my mind and show my emotions. I’m thankful for being able to connect with so many amazing people. I’m thankful to be alive. Right now though, I just want to be not okay. I want to obsessively hope that my baby will find his way home to me. Sorry this isn’t one of my happier posts, but it’s one of my most real ones. Blessed be my readers.

  1. Inspiration. For many weeks, I’ve been existing. I haven’t been unhappy. I just haven’t felt very productive. Anything I’ve done, I’ve done on autopilot. That changed this week. I’ve had quotes hit me strongly. I’ve had a few story ideas. It’s been amazing.
  2. Being a part of something special. Recently, my group has decided to do something special this Christmas. I know that Halloween hasn’t even hit. The reason we are planning it now is that the sale is happening now and we may miss out if we don’t pounce. We plan to purchase the Christmas Once Upon A Book Club box. The idea is that we all read the book together and open the gifts at the same time. I think it’s amazing and will work well for us all!
  3. Faith. Sometimes things seem like there is no hope. It feels hard to even continue on. I’m glad that if I just keep faith during these moments, I find strength to move on. It’s not always easy, but it’s really worth it.
  4. Solutions to problems. Things happen. Sometimes it seems like a solution won’t be found. It’s a really great feeling when you can think of a solution for a problem quickly and effortlessly.

Note: There may be some things that get repeated now and then. My intention is to talk about things I’m thankful for that week. So some things may pop up a few times. I’m not attempting to be redundant or repetitive. Just trying to be genuine.

  1. Making my own choices. There are times I realize just how fortunate I am to get up and decide what I want to do for the day. To decide what I want to do with my life. There are many people who will never have the opportunity to make choices on their own. I’ll admit there are some days I choose not to make any choices, but if you think about it, that in itself is a choice.
  2. TBR planning. Sometimes making a TBR pile keeps me focused on my reading. It also excites me about what I’m about to read. It also excites me for reading.
  3. Moving On. Something big just happened and my family and I lost some major things that were really important to us. Some that can be replaced, and some that can’t. I lost a really big chunk of my book collection. It really hurt us all, but we are going to move on and get stronger. On the same token of this, I’m thankful for forgiveness and second chances.
  4. Food Prep. Some days I don’t feel like fixing food. Other days I feel like cooking all day long. So the days I feel like cooking, I try my best to prep and put away foods. That way I am not tempted to choose foods that aren’t the healthiest just because it’s easier. I even have two salad bowls so I can prep my salads to just grab. It’s definitely helped my confidence.
