My Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is a pretty wholesome book. All three of them are really. I am also very in love with the covers. they are authentic and beautiful. These books give a very nice refreshing change to some of the more “steamy” books that are out there. I fully recommend them.

Book Summary:

She is a rebel. Lilla is fighting for the refugees’s freedom from oppression. The king, her father, lost touch with reality ever since Lilla’s mother died. Now everyone else is paying the price.

The arrival of Callum, a powerful Teryn general, complicates Lilla’s life. His presence leads to conflicted feelings and friction with Arrov, a handsome pilot and fellow rebel.

Her life is not what she imagined it to be. Not by far. Meddling gods, love interests and sudden magical abilities have no room in Lilla’s world, but that has become her new reality. No matter how hard she pushes them away, it’s too late. They all seek to control her anyway.

Now the Era War between two ruling archgods forces Lilla to act: accept who she really is magic and all; find true love; fulfill her destiny by defeating the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction before He finds her. The Last Lumenian.

Review:
Story: This is one of the rare books that I knew the moment I saw it that I would love it. For the most part, I wasn’t wrong. I really did enjoy the book very much. I didn’t get caught up into the story right away like I thought I would be, but I got there eventually. That’s not saying the book was written bad or anything like that. I just wasn’t in the mindset at the time when I first started reading it. The downfalls of being a mood reader.
Characters: One of our main characters is a part of the rebels. She’s also a princess of the kingdom that the rebels are rebelling against. The rest of the characters are people who have been wronged by the king or people who have been following his orders.
Critiques: None
Narration: I didn’t listen to the book fully. The parts I did listen to were pretty amazing. I was very impressed and give a full five-star rating.
Final Thoughts: I really need to get to reading the second book of this series! I buddy read this one with a group of friends, but they didn’t want to continue with the sequel. I’ll get there eventually. Maybe I’ll even decide to reread this beauty before I do read it!

Book Summary:

Paladins are nothing but trouble. Stories about paladins are everywhere, noble warriors riding magic steeds into battle against terrible foes. Champions of their gods. Heroes to everyone, except those who already have everything. Paladins are notorious for upsetting the balance of power, to the detriment of any who don’t worship their deity.

So when Krell is called to service by the capricious god of the seas and skies, ReckNor, those with wealth and power can’t help but be concerned. ReckNor hasn’t called a paladin in years, and his nature is ever-changing and erratic. The fact that Krell is also an uneducated nobody with a stubborn streak as wide as the sea turns their concerns into fear.

All of which matters less than the threat clawing its way from the waves, ready to turn the ocean red with spilled blood…

My Review:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This book is a very quirky and fun read. There are things referenced that just blew my mind. The only issues I had with the book were the constant use of the watch name. It kind of became redundant. I think this is a personal ism for me. The other issue I had was that it ended with a cliffhanger and I don’t have access to the second book! I fully recommend the book. I’m very thankful that I was able to read it.

Note: Will post a longer review later in a separate blog.

A deadly, incurable disease creeps silent through Chattanooga. And its victims aren’t random. When inexplicable human rabies cases appear in Tennessee, disease ecologist Letty Duquesne jumps at the chance to trace the virus back to its source. But the closer Letty gets to finding the outbreak’s origin, the further someone will go to stop her. With an unwanted promotion threatening to take Letty far from the fieldwork she loves, this outbreak feels like her last chance to make a difference. It’s not something she can ignore, especially now. The spillover of zoonotic diseases to the human population is on the rise and violent animal attacks—like the one that killed her sister—are becoming all too common. Something in nature has gone very wrong. Local authorities would rather she go home, but Letty can track a source animal like no one else. With the help of disgraced detective Andrew Marsh, Letty follows the virus’s epidemiological trail. But her every move is watched. And the source animal is closer than she thinks. Inhuman Acts is a pulse-pounding thriller. Gripping and intricately paced, Brooke L. French’s debut novel will keep you on the edge of your seat.

My Review:

This book was so amazing! I really wasn’t expecting half of the things that popped up! I also really LOVE that my hometown (Marietta) was referenced in the book! That is so rare! I won’t say too much because I don’t want to give too many spoilers. But I really wasn’t expecting the ending at all. I was expecting something else entirely! I’ll have a more detailed review of this in a separate post! I need somebody to read this and contact me so we can talk about it! And oh my! The cover!!!!

TikTok Deleted

I did it. I deleted TikTok from my phone. Full disclosure, I did keep it on my iPad and I have access to it on my computer. I’m not completely quitting. I’ll watch videos here and there. I’m just not going to post any videos. I’m also not going to be on a daily basis. It’s just too dark for me. I posted a video about it and will share it here.

I’m not trying to tell anybody that they should quit too. I’m also not bashing anybody or TikTok itself. I just realize now that it’s not for me. And that’s okay.

Have you ever had to set something aside because it just wasn’t healthy for you to be around?

Reset Did Me Good

I did not intend to take a break as it were. At the end of the day, I’m glad I did. It has really done me well. I’ve been home for three days now. I was kind of in the background. For one, I was trying to finish a book. I just finished it a bit earlier today. For two, a bunch of people at the convention I went to tested positive for covid. Including my partner. So far, I haven’t shown any symptoms. Both tests I took came up negative. I’m still going to go in quarantine mode for the next two weeks to be on the safe side.

This time off has helped me reflect on myself so much. I think getting out of the house and away for a bit has helped as well. Also, I was at a book convention, so I also had some amazing retail therapy. As I do every year. I actually didn’t buy as much this year as I normally did. I wasn’t as impulsive. Here’s a video of my haul:

I do realize there’s still a lot there. My mom decided to gift me some books as well. I’m so thankful for her! I did do something really awesome (to me) when I got home. I sat down and made a list of blogs I want to write and a list of blogs I should write here soon. Here’s the blog topics I’ll be including in my blog currently:

Blog Tours
Cover Reveals
Release Blitzes
Book Reviews
Book Spotlights
TV Show Reviews (By the Season)
Movie Reviews
Any book-related topic I am inspired by
Author/Reader Interviews
Before the book speculations/guesses
Book Tags

Book Rants

I’m pretty sure this list will be added to and edited to a lot as my blog goes on from here. Which is completely fine. The biggest thing I’m trying to do is get out of the rut of routine that I threw myself in. I want my blog to feel more authentic. More me. I’ll still do a post every day, but it will be randomly selected from either something above or anything that strikes my fancy. Some days, there might be more than one blog. It all depends. I do have an author interview coming soon. I sent her over questions and some things I’d like her to send back today. I’m really excited!

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the changes that you see here in the future.
