This Week’s Topic: Books I’d Gladly Throw in an Ocean

I want to say that this seems like something that can be taken in a few ways. I’m going to take it as books that disturbed me so bad I’ll never read again. I didn’t necessarily dislike them. I just won’t ever put myself through that again.

1. Lord of the Flies by William Golding: I get that this is a favorite. I just didn’t love it. It really disturbed me in many ways. I think it’s because I’m an empath. I didn’t know it when I read the book. But yeah.
2. The Power by Naomi Aldermen: The writing was wonderful. The content was just really disturbing. I’ll leave it at that.
3. Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips: I really can’t explain why this book upset me so much. It disturbed me though.
4. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis: I know everybody loves this series. I just really couldn’t get into certain parts of it. I can’t exactly say which. It’s one of those if you know, you know kind of things.
5. The Girls by Emma Cline: I mean it’s about the Manson cult. Do I need to say more?
6. The Untold Tales of Dolly Williamson by J.M. Bannon: Can’t remember reason.
7. the Guest List by Lucy Foley: Was one of my favorite books of the year. Doesn’t make it less disturbing. It gave me nightmares!
8. When We Were Vikings by Andrew David MacDonald: It was a good story. It really was. There were just parts I feel kind of bordered making fun of people with FAS a little too much. That may be just my opinion.
9. Dear Maude by Denise Liebig: Just feels a little overwhelming.
10. Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin: I can’t even remember why this book disturbed me. It just disturbed me greatly.

3. Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind: I can’t explain this one well. I wouldn’t want to see the horrors. But the world before everything went to hell. Maybe.

5. Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris: I mean a world where paranormals exist and are out in the open! Just saying.
6. His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman: I want a Daemon!!!!
7. Literal Leigh series by Melanie James: I’d totally want to write a story on that wonderful desk.
8. Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Keri Maniscalco: I would love to live in the late 1800s. Even if it’s just for a week or two. Just to observe how life was then. And maybe several different times in history to observe.
9. Devil’s Gate series by Grace White: I can’t explain this one either. Paranormals.
10. Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich. I love the small town vibes of the whole area.

This Week’s Topic: Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud

1. Paranormals of Avynwood series by Micelle Dare: I absolutely love this series. It’s intense, but it’s also so funny. Especially parts involving Solomon. He’s my absolute favorite character in the series!
2. Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich: This whole series is a riot! Especially all of the mishaps that happen trough the entire series involving Stephanie Plum and whoever is tagging along wit her! I’ve been reading this series for a decade or longer!
3. The Help by Kathryn Stockett: Being transparent here, this book hits heavy subjects. It’s not a real light and fluffy novel. However, the characters are a great comic relief. It’s been a decade or longer since I’ve read the book, but there were certain characters in the book hat just made it so great!
4. Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie: I was introduced to this book recently by my girlfriend. It’s one of her absolute favorite books. It pulled me in from the very first line. It was just so quirky and fast paced. I absolutely loved it. I will be reading it again eventually.
5. The Complications of Pi by RK Phillips: I related so hard to the main character. Other than the character being so smart! She’s quirky and anxious. She’s also a bit of a klutz! Like I am. The whole novel is a riot from beginning to end. I’m glad I got to read it.
6. The Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews: While I really adore all of the books in this series. For this one, I’m mainly going to focus on the first three. I absolutely loved the main character in the first three and I think she’s a riot. Her attitude and sass just make the whole book so enjoyable.
7. A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones: Sunshine is the main character. She just has this personality that I can’t get enough of. I also really love the dynamic between her and her daughter. It’s so witty! I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!
8. Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Keri Maniscalco: I got sucked into this book from the very first page. It was humorous and engaging. I definitely have plans to read this book more than once. I especially love Thomas. He just cut’s so much serious out of the story and pretty much adds a great deal of enjoyment to the series.
9. Daughter of Winter series by Skye McKinnon: I didn’t think I was going to like this book at first. I thought the main character was really whiny and immature. I kept reading though. I’m very glad I did. It gets better as the book goes along. It also helps that the banter between the main character and her guards is so entrancing. They click so fast. You’d think they knew each other for ages instead of mere days.
10. The Paper Magician by Charlie N Holmberg: I didn’t think this book would be funny in the beginning. Then other characters were added and it’s just hard not to find them absolutely hilarious. I’ll let anybody who wants to read it read it for themselves and not ruin it. I want to own physical copies of these one day so I can read them as many times as I want. I do have them all in audio. But yeah.

This Week’s Topic:Valentine’s Day/Love Freebie

My Choice: Book series I want to read this year.

1. The Giver Quartet by Louis Lowry: The Giver was one of my favorite books of all time. I’ve read it a few times. I didn’t find out it was a series until a couple years ago. Whenever they adapted it into a movie. I’ve been wanting to read them ever since. I just got my hands on them recently. I’m excited!
2. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard: So I actually watched the television show to this many years ago. I only watched the first two seasons. I didn’t get around to wanting to read the books until about three or so years ago. I read the first book almost all the way and set it down. Last year, I read the first two books. This year, I want to read them again and finish the series.
3. House of Night by P.C and Kristin Cast: In June, there’s going to be a readathon that encourages you to reread books. My girlfriend wants to read the series again and finish it. She doesn’t really remember much about it or where she left off. I figured I’d take this as an opportunity to reread the series. I might even listen to them all if I have them all in audio.
4. House of Night: Otherworld by P.C. and Kristin Cast: I was supposed to have read these all for a blog tour that I participated in last year. I never really got the chance to get around to them. I want to make up for that. Hoping to read them all after I read the House of Night ones. We shall see. Either way, I’m excited for them!
5. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige: This has been on my want to read list for years. I don’t even remember how long it’s been. I know that I finally got the entire series on Book Outlet last year when I was under the influence of champagne. That’s a long story for another blog.
6. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer: I can’t even remember how long I’ve wanted to read this series. I remember my mom owned them. I was always tempted to pluck them off her shelves when she wasn’t looking and put them on my own. I saw them on Book Outlet for a great price recently and got them. I got the UK covers. I love them. I can’t wait to finally read them.
7. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: I’ve already read this series and loved it. I’ve been trying to get my girlfriend into the series. We tried to read it together last year, but we wound up stopping. I’m hoping that we pick it back up again this year. I am confident that she will absolutely love it. And that by the end of the series, we will both consider Rose Hathaway our book girlfriend. She may be totally into Dimitri by the end as well.
8. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead: So I have read the first book in this series about two or three times. And every time I do, I’m fully planning on reading the other five books. However, I never wind up doing so. I have all of the series in ebook, physical books, and audiobooks. I have no excuse. Other than the fact that I kind of know things that happen beyond the first book. I usually don’t mind spoilers, but yeah.
9. Fallen by Lauren Kate: I started to read this series last year. I was so happy that after all these years I finally got it. I just had to set it down sadly. I fully plan on diving back into the series and reading it fully! Hopefully this year!
10. The Immortals by Alyson Noel: This is another series that’s been on my list to read for a very long time. I also finally obtained this series last year. I really am looking forward to finally reading it. It’s on the huge list to read this year! With luck!
