Thankful Thursdays: 9/2/21

I don’t know if anybody else has made this a thing. I also don’t know if anybody else will do this with me. If not, it’s completely fine. It’s something I want to do every week. I’m going to think of at least one thing I’m thankful for for the week. I’ll try to do up to four a week, but at least one. I think this will be very therapeutic. We shall see in time.

Note: There may be some things that get repeated now and then. My intention is to talk about things I’m thankful for that week. So some things may pop up a few times. I’m not attempting to be redundant or repetitive. Just trying to be genuine.

  1. Readathon. I recently hosted a readathon last weekend. The challenge was to pick your TBR list from a jar or something similar. Some people made lists and used random.org or had a friend choose a number. I had such an amazing time that I’m making it a monthly thing.
  2. Fresh Starts. Before I left to go to Texas, I lost my job. I don’t want to get into the details. I’m lucky that I found another job. I will be starting it in a few weeks.
  3. Learning. I recently picked up a book that was loosely based on an important person in history. It encouraged me to do my research on the actual lady and the event that happened. I learned quite a bit because of it. I sincerely miss learning and school. I also learned some things about mental health conditions. Mainly ADHD, but still.
  4. Normalcy. When I came home, I had a lot of things that put a wrench in my plans. One of the biggest things was I lost my MacBook charger and wasn’t able to use it. I recently replaced it. I’m so thankful. I use it to listen to audio and do video calls. I’m so thankful. I can now get back into my silly routine.

What are some things you’re thankful for?

  1. Inspiration. I finally got around to unpacking all of my things from being out of town. Including the packages I got in while being gone. One of the items I got was a jar to put titles of books in for when you’re in a reading slump. It inspired me to create a readathon for this weekend where I read the books picked like that. If all goes well, I plan on making it a thing for the last weekend of every month!
  2. Family time. My mom, Dustyn and I have been playing Guns of Glory pretty heavily this week. We have spent a lot together because of this. It’s been pretty amazing! I’m very happy.
  3. Unpacking. I’ve been so overwhelmed since I’ve been home. I fell into a depression after returning home. I can’t even explain it. I felt so alone and miserable. Anyways, unpacking and thinking about Savannah helped pull me through it for the most part.
  4. A brighter future. Things are going well. Sometimes there are some moments that are very challenging. For the most part, things are going very well. I’m looking forward to things that are coming as well.

  1. My birthday. My birthday was Sunday. I spent all day watching the Jurassic Park and World movies. I absolutely love them. Apparently there will be a third Jurassic World coming out June of next year. The only previews I’ve seen are the last part of the second movie. So I’m a little skeptical right now. I’ll keep an eye on it either way.
  2. Sleep. One of the first things to get messed up when I fall out of routine is my sleep. If I get to sleep at a decent hour, I wind up waking up a million times. Usually I wind up just pushing myself to stay awake until I absolutely pass out. Its the only way I stay asleep during the duration.
  3. Friends. I’m now beginning to see that I’m blessed with quite a few friends. Sometimes I feel lonely. I get stuck in my head and think that I’m alone. I think the world would be better without me. Seeing that I have friends out there that care is just so amazing to me.
  4. Gifts. I’ve gotten so many amazing things for my birthday. This is still new to me. After I turned eighteen, I stopped getting gifts for a long time. It was a miracle if I even got a happy birthday. Don’t get me wrong, I had a few happy birthdays, but it was mainly my mom. It hurt a lot. I’m still thankful for everything I get. It’s the thought behind it. You could make me a bookmark and I’d be so happy!

  1. Seeing my friends. I went to Savannah and spent time with people who are important to me. I had an amazing time. I was a little sad that my mom wasn’t there to enjoy the moment with me, but I hardly had a chance during the event to reflect on it.
  2. Literary Love of Savannah. I’ve attended this event every year since 2018. I’ve never felt so comfortable in a situation before in my life. I’ve met so many amazing people there. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.
  3. Coming home. I’ve been away from home since the end of June. While I really enjoyed my time, I missed my family and my furbabies. I’ve been reunited with two that I’ve been apart from for almost a year. They have been so happy to have me around.
  4. Books! I have gotten so many new books between book sales and LLS (see 2). I’m a bit stressed because my room is the size of a closet and I have no bookshelves, but I got many books that I really wanted. I’m very excited and happy!

  1. Project Goals. I had several projects to do in preparation for an upcoming conventions. I thought the tasks I had were going to take all week. I got them done by yesterday. I still have a lot to do, but it’s still an amazing feeling to get things done on time.
  2. Reading. I’ve gotten a lot of reading done lately. I even hit my hundred book mark for the year! I know it sounds crazy that I was able to read so much and get everything I got done done. That’s the beauty of audiobooks! I’ve listened to some pretty amazing audiobooks lately!
  3. Planning. This is the first time in a long time that my plans are actually coming to fruition. Usually my my plans always go sideways. So when things finally go the way I plan for them to, I’m thankful.
  4. Cooking. I’ve cooked breakfast for myself two mornings in a row. I miss cooking. I love to cook. I just get very picky about booking. I like to have everything planned out in my head before I cook. I can’t just cook on a whim unless it’s easy to put together foods.

  1. Challenges. I know this sounds really crazy. But I really love challenges. Well book challenges anyways. The other types of challenges make me wonder if I’m good enough to take them on.
  2. Planning. Things are coming soon. I am so excited. I’ll be going to Savannah for a book convention. It excites me so much! I still have many things to do though.
  3. Reflection. I’ve found that I have a lot of alone time lately. It’s really helped me reflect a lot on myself. It’s helped me work through some doubts and insecurities in ways I never thought were possible.
  4. Confidence. This is something that I can’t say that I experience often. I am happy to say there have been quite a few times I looked at myself in the mirror and actually saw that I was beautiful. Inside and out. It made me feel wonderful. I hope it continues.

  1. Anniversaries. I’m very thankful for these. I don’t just mean romantically. Any kind. They are so important and they should be celebrated fully. I’m so thankful that I have anniversaries with people. I’m thankful for having a blog that has an anniversary as well.
  2. Self Care. I know I bought this up last week. I just can’t stress the importance on it. Sometimes self care is the lowest thing on my priority list. Some days I don’t even want to get out of bed.
  3. Structure. I know this may seem weird. However, I’m very serious. I’m not saying that I’m chaotic or anything, but without lists and schedules, I’m basically useless. It’s kind of why I shy away from the jobs where you schedule yourself. Maybe I shouldn’t though. Maybe I should face it head on and overcome these challenges.
  4. Love. If it weren’t for the love of the people who I surround myself with every day and my furbabies, I don’t know what I’d do with myself. They are my structure. They are my foundation. They keep me going every day. I love them and I’m so thankful that they return my love.

  1. Alone Time. Don’t get me wrong. I love spending time with all those that I care about. I really do. I just really crave alone time so that I can recharge and reflect on things. There are things that I like to hold to reflect on later so that I don’t overreact or come off as crazy. Alone time helps with those reflections.
  2. Self Care. This may seem like a no brainer to most people. I constantly battle depression though. Sometimes its’ a great feat to care about anything self care related. Recently I got a bunch of self care items. I got shower bombs (Those are a thing!!!!), body washes, lotions, body sprays, etc. It’s made me feel really beautiful.
  3. Lists. I have finally sat down and made lists on things I need to do. Mainly just list of all the books I need to read. The organization really helps. I have this thing where I kind of freak out when I finish a book because I don’t know what exactly to read next. Making lists help. So much.
  4. Job Hunting. I have been able to job hunt. Most of the jobs I have applied for won’t be started until August. Which is really perfect for me. That’s when I’ll be heading home. I’ve already gotten two rejections. It’s okay though. The point is that I’m able to try. Hopefully I’ll have some luck soon!

  1. Travel. I don’t get to get out of the house often. So getting to travel means the world to me. Even if I don’t get out and do a ton of things. It’s still really amazing to me.
  2. A change of scenery. Sometimes getting out of the house and going somewhere else. I’m getting to experience that for the next month or so. It’s absolutely amazing.
  3. Getting organized. I know this one seems silly, but I’ve spent a good chunk of my life living out of boxes. To have my stuff spread out and organized in spaces is beyond beautiful. I’ve even taken pictures of some things I have set up.
  4. Sales! I’m not exactly a shopper, but I love catching sales. I’ve gotten so many things I never thought I’d ever own due to sales. I’ve even been able to take care of my loved ones because of sales! It’s just so amazing!

  1. Big plans! I have somebody very special coming to visit tomorrow. I am so excited and happy! I’m also going to be going out of town next week for about a month and a half. It’s so nice to be able to plan things out without worrying.
  2. Sales! I know this one is a bit shallow and materialistic. I get that. I also get that nothing that I’m using now will follow me into the afterlife. I get it! But I really am so thankful for sales. It helps me get things that I would normally want to get, but I’m not able to get normally. I got many games and books recently because of this!
  3. Communication. I’ve found lately that I’m able to get how I feel out more easily than I used to. It’s felt really great. Maybe starting my journaling thing has helped me.
  4. Reading! I know I’m constantly saying how thankful I am for reading. I have read so much in such a short time period. It’s really given me more confidence on getting back on track. I think it will help me get further in getting caught up. Maybe even get ahead on reading! We will see!
