Thankful Thursday- February 24th

I don’t know if anybody else has made this a thing. I also don’t know if anybody else will do this with me. If not, it’s completely fine. It’s something I want to do every week. I’m going to think of at least one thing I’m thankful for for the week. I’ll try to do up to four a week, but at least one. I think this will be very therapeutic. We shall see in time.

Note: There may be some things that get repeated now and then. My intention is to talk about things I’m thankful for that week. So some things may pop up a few times. I’m not attempting to be redundant or repetitive. Just trying to be genuine.

  1. Gifts from people who care about me. I haven’t been fond of Valentine’s day in a very long time. It reminds me of a pain I will never forget for as long as I live. The loss of my sister. I had a few people who care about me so much that they sent me things I’d love to make it special anyways.
  2. Getting a new job. I’ve been really downing myself lately for not being able to stay with a job long. This one is different than the ones I’ve been working since I’ve worked from home. I’m hoping that’s a good sign. I can already tell that the energy of the people is amazing!
  3. Retail therapy. I don’t really have a lot of money to burn. Probably shouldn’t burn the money I have. It did help me feel better. I got some things I wanted and needed.
  4. My fur babies. No matter how dark my moods get, I know that I can always count on their unconditional love and cuddles. They love me no matter what. They want to take the pain and sadness when they sense them. They can even tell when I’m about to have panic attacks. I’m so blessed they are around.

  1. Discovery. I’ve discovered something that I want to do that I can start building on to build a future for myself. I’ve been so frustrated because I have so many things I wish I could do, but I didn’t have anything that I felt like I would be good enough to do.
  2. Having people who believe in me. Even when I don’t believe in myself. Sometimes it’s hard to really see that there are people there that are on your team rooting for you. Sometimes it’s easier to just believe that everybdy thinks the same as you do about yourself.
  3. Trusting my morals. Something happened that I just couldn’t stand by. I won’t get into the details because quite frankly it’s irrelevant to the point at this point. It really did bother me for quite a bit after it happened.
  4. Healing. My sister passed away on February 13th, 2006. I struggled for years after. The first two years, I went to parties and got drunk. I wanted nothing more than to just not be in the world. I didn’t want to feel the pain. I realized that I was heading on a dangerous path, so I quit drinking. I still couldn’t stand the thought of Valentine’s Day. It was a dark day to me. This year is the first year that it didn’t feel dark to me. I still miss her. I don’t think that will ever change. I’m just so thankful that I’m starting to heal. That I’m able to see the beauty in days that are meant to embrace love.

  1. Being able to buy things for those I care about. At one point, I wasn’t able to do that. It made me feel bad. I once thought that gift giving could have been my love language. I love giving those I love gifts. My love language is quality time. Which makes sense. I do love spending time with my loved ones.
  2. New book releases. I know this one is a bit silly, but I was so excited when three books released on the same day. Two of them were released in audio only. The other formats were already released. One was released in all formats. I was just so excited they were released and so thankful that I was able to grab them.
  3. Making up my time. I missed a couple of days of work due to my health. Both times, I have been able to make up my time with overtime. I’m so thankful for that. The best part was that my team lead hasn’t once said anything to make me feel like I should be ashamed for being sick like previous jobs did.
  4. Talking about television shows all day long. I work for a popular streaming service. Most of the calls I get are troubleshooting and cancelation calls. No matter what the call, most of the time I’m able to bring up or talk about television shows. I’ve learned so much about shows I didn’t know about. I’ve educated some about shows I love. It’s just amazing. I feel blessed.

  1. Having people in my life who understand. Life gives you ups and downs. Sometimes it’s easier for the brain to replay the negatives. The people who don’t get it. The people who shame you. I could go on, but I don’t want to dwell on that. There are people who love and accept you no matter what. No matter how many mistakes you make. Even if you don’t love and accept yourself. I’m thankful for that.
  2. Having a thankful journal. I recently got myself a thankful journal. I’ve been listing three things I’m thankful for every day. It’s so soothing. I can’t even begin to explain it. It makes this blog so much easier to right.
  3. Learning. At one point in history, I wouldn’t have the ability to learn or read. At least not openly. If I did choose to do either of these things, I would be looked down upon or told I wouldn’t catch a husband if I knew more than they did. I honor that ability and right as often as I can.
  4. My job. I think I finally might have found a job that I can stick with. So far, everything is going very smoothly. I’m praying it sticks. I’m praying that I’m good enough to continue on with this job. Eventually, I would like to make a career. I’d like to be able to promote books freely at all hours of the day and read for hours a day. Maybe one day. We shall see!

  1. Recreating. I’m sure a lot of you have noticed this already. I’ve been revamping some of the graphics on my blog. They aren’t professional. I made them all myself. I’m a novice at best. I love doing them though. Hoping I’ll be able to hone my skills and keep pushing out great graphics! We shall see!
  2. Talking to Friends. I’ve had a lot of people from my past reach out to me recently. A lot to me is like three. To be fair, I don’t really get to interact with a lot of people on a daily basis. Either way. It was nice to catch up with people. I hope we stay in touch.
  3. Reading. I’ve been in such a reading rut lately. I think I read a handful of books each month for the past three months. I am pretty sure that I read more this week than I have in the past two months combined. I could be wrong though. Either way, it’s nice to be back in my groove.
  4. Being blessed. We all go through hard times. Some of us more than others. I am blessed that I haven’t gone through hard times nearly as much as I did when I was younger. I’m thankful for everything that I’m able to do and buy. Especially food. I may not have a lot of cash, but I’m rich in the important ways.

  1. Holidays. I’m thankful for the ability to have special days of the year to spend time with my family. Not that I need the excuse. We all live very busy lives. Sometimes it’s just nice to be able to have the time to spend with each other.
  2. Goals. I’ve been honing my goals for the new year. Trying to create a routine that works. I know it will need to be tweaked a bit when I start a new job, but it will work out.
  3. New beginnings. I’m referring to the new year coming. I see it as a way to branch out and challenge myself to be the best me I can be for that year. I know that’s many people. I try to make my goals realistic though. As best as I can. And I don’t consider them resolutions. I consider them goals.
  4. My loved ones. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the world. The news of the world events. The constant fighting on social media. It just takes its toll on me. Sometimes I want to give up. My loved ones keep me from doing so. They make me realize there is still beauty in this world despite all of the chaos.

  1. People who care. When you spend long periods of time feeling alone and like you don’t matter, it’s a really great feeling when people show they care. I can’t even begin to explain the feeling.
  2. Christmas Cards. I am so happy to have gotten so many Christmas cards this year. I even sent quite a bit out! I think that’s what I’m most thankful for. I love the fact that I’m able to send cards that hopefully make people smile.
  3. Learning. I feel like most days I find something new. I hope that I will always find something to learn every day for as long as I live.
  4. Being there for people. I’ve seen some people aren’t dong well. I’ve done what I could to let them know that I’m there. Hopefully one day they will see it and reach out. Either way, I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to be there for them when they needed soemone.

  1. Training. Yesterday was my last day of training. It was a bittersweet day for me. I really don’t feel like I’m ready to move on and take calls. I won’t know until I’m actually taking calls next week.
  2. The next phase. While I don’t think I’m ready for calls yet, I do realize that I’m ready for the next phase. I’m excited. I really feel like this is a great job. I’m so thankful that I’ve been given the opportunity to find this position and can’t wait to see where I go in this. I could see it becomming a career.
  3. Giving. I’ve been able to get gifts for some people I care about. Not everybody yet, but usually I’m scrambling at the last moment. So this means the world to me. I’m so excited to see the looks on their faces when they open their presents.
  4. Paying off debts. When you owe money, it feels like the world is closing around on you. Especially when you have no idea what the future holds. Once things start looking up again, it’s just a great feeling. It’s humbling really.

  1. Making new friends. I’ve been training for my new job for a couple of weeks. I’ve managed to pick up two friends from there. It’s pretty amazing. I hit it off with one of them almost instantly. We actually have worked at a few of the same companies before as well. Not at the same time. Still.
  2. My new job. I was so hesitant about this job. I have not had great experience with training and management in the past year. It’s been a rough year work wise. This job has been so amazing. I haven’t even gotten out of training yet! I am understanding the content. For the most part. What I haven’t understood has been explained later. The trainer has been very patient with us all. I hope that I stick with this job for awhile.
  3. Sarcasm and humor. I find that these are the best methods of breaking tension. It also helps break the ice when you’re nervous around new people. Well outside of work of course. I’m thankful that I have a decent sense of humor.
  4. The Holidays. I’m not saying this to be generic and not offend anybody. There are multiple Holidays around this time of year. Rather than take twenty minutes to say them all, it does happen to be easier to say Happy Holidays. But I digress. I’m thankful that we live in a world that everybody is able to get to celebrate how they want. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to learn about them all.

Thankful Thursday: Thanksgiving Special

I don’t know if anybody else has made this a thing. I also don’t know if anybody else will do this with me. If not, it’s completely fine. It’s something I want to do every week. I’m going to think of at least one thing I’m thankful for for the week. I’ll try to do up to four a week, but at least one. I think this will be very therapeutic. We shall see in time.

Note: There may be some things that get repeated now and then. My intention is to talk about things I’m thankful for that week. So some things may pop up a few times. I’m not attempting to be redundant or repetitive. Just trying to be genuine.

Special Note: Today is Thanksgiving. To me, it’s a day we embrace everything we are thankful for. Normally, I highlight four thankful things I’m thankful for that week. This week, I’m going to post ten things I’m thankful for in general.

  1. Being alive. Some days I struggle with my worth. I think that I am a waste of space and want to do everybody a favor and disappear. The fact that I’m fighting it every day is amazing to me.
  2. Family. My family has drastically dwindled down over the years. Some are estranged and some have passed away. I remember a time where I would go to at least four Thanksgiving dinners. I had leftovers sent home from every one. I think I was good on food for a week or two after! In a way, I miss those days. I’m thankful for the family I have left though.
  3. Choosing Holidays. I have the freedom to get to choose what holidays I want to celebrate and what I don’t. I have the ability to learn about other cultures and understand them better. I have the power to hear everything and determine my viewpoint without others telling me what I should think or celebrate.
  4. Freedom. I’ve read a lot of books where women didn’t really have a lot of freedom or say in what went on in their lives. They were married off when they had barely staretd puberty. Some were sold off to be servants. That’s something I will never have to worry about.
  5. Learning. One of my favorite things to do is learn about things. My favorite topics are history and true crime. I guess the easiest way to explain it is I like to know the whys of things that have happened.
  6. Writing. I’m not an author. I will never claim to be one. I do love writing though. I love getting my thoughts out. I guess that’s why I love blogging so much. I have a great space to get my thoughts out any time I want.
  7. Furbabies. Recently, I lost one of my three beautiful furbabies. He’s been gone long enough to where I feel like the chances of him coming home are slim to none. I’m so blessed I had him in my life. He was three when he disappeared. I’ve had him since he was nine weeks old. I’ve had my other two babies since they were six weeks and they will be seven next year. They are as close to children as I’m ever going to get.
  8. Friends. One of the things I didn’t have a lot growing up is friends. I moved a lot and it was really hard to keep up with people back then. It’s amazing how much social media has changed that. I have quite a few friends and acquaintances now. I have people in my life that love to read almost as much as I do. It’s amazing!
  9. Reading. Reading is one of my biggest passions. If I could get paid enough to read and promote authors to make it a full time income, I’d work every waking moment and be okay. I’d probably even allow myself more freedom with creativity. Make more attention grabbing photos and videos. Maybe even start getting more serious about graphics.
  10. You. I’m so thankful that out of all the blogs in the world you took the time to come to my page and read mine. I never expected for my blog to go anywhere. I expected maybe five people to read it at best. I am now sitting at 303 followers. Most people may not see that as a lot, but to me it’s so much. Thank you. You mean so much to me!
