Readathon News: Seasons of Reading and AYEARATHON

Disclaimer: These Readathons are not owned or run by me. I find them by searching the month and year on Google. My main source has been Little Book Owl.

June 14th-June 20th:

Seasons of Reading is holding an entire month long readathon dedicated to Sci-Fi. It’s called the Sci-Fi Summer Readathon. It looks like there aren’t many rules. Looks like you don’t even have to have a blog to participate. They do have a hashtag you can use that’s listed in the blog describing the readathon. They also have a Slack channel that can be joined. Feel free to click on the links and check them out!

This week, #AYEARATHON is holding a week long readathon. The theme they are choosing for this month is rereads. You can find more information about the readathon on the link provided in the hashtag. I haven’t been as great of a participant as I could be during these, but I plan to do better from here on. I’ve been looking forward to this one all year long. I plan to reread the House of Night series.

June 7th-June 13th:

This one is a little late, but Seasons of Reading is holding an entire month long readathon dedicated to Sci-Fi. It’s called the Sci-Fi Summer Readathon. It looks like there aren’t many rules. Looks like you don’t even have to have a blog to participate. They do have a hashtag you can use that’s listed in the blog describing the readathon. They also have a Slack channel that can be joined. From June 6th to June 12th we have something I just found but I am super excited about hosted by queer_lit. It’s called the Queer Lit Readathon. It looks absolutely amazing. The original link I found wound up being all about last years readathons. Luckily for me, I was able to find out some information with a simple Google search. It looks like it’s very active on Instagram, but they also have a Youtube. They probably encourage the readathon on other platforms as well. Feel free to click the link I have provided for more info.

Normally, I’d post my TBR posts right here. I’ve been really struggling to read lately. So I think until I can stop forcing myself to read and actually want to read that I’ll just read on a whim. I am looking forward to picking out TBR piles for events again though. Let me know if you plan to participate in either of these readathons! Maybe we can do it together!

Readathon News: AYearAThon

I’ll discuss the readathons going on during the week and ow I feel about them. I will also list my TBR for the readathon or each readathon. If none are scheduled or I’m not hosting my own, this blog will be skipped for the week.

May 10th to the 16th

This is the only readathon I know of that I am interested in this month. I really do need to increase my sources on readathons so I can find out how many are going on. It’s this months #AYearAThon. The theme is Books by One Author. I have chosen to read the first half of the House of Night series since their theme next month is re-reads and I can read the rest of the series next month. Anybody else do these every month? I love them!

Readathon News: Spring Into Horror and Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon

I’ll discuss the readathons going on during the week and ow I feel about them. I will also list my TBR for the readathon or each readathon. If none are scheduled or I’m not hosting my own, this blog will be skipped for the week.

April 19th to the 25th

For the entire month of April, there is a Spring Into Horror readathon. I used to actively participate in these, but randomly stopped when I was feeling overwhelmed. I’m happy to be back.

This is actually a light week. The only readathon going on is Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon taking place on April 24th from 8 AM EST until 8 AM EST on April 25th. It’s one of my favorite readathons to attend every year. I signed up to help co-host and do social media discussions. I don’t think they needed me this year. At least I can say I try. Half of the readathon may consist of me working. I put in for the day off though. So we shall see what happens. Luckily, I’m able to read during work.

April 12th to the 18th

For the entire month of April, there is a Spring Into Horror readathon. I used to actively participate in these, but randomly stopped when I was feeling overwhelmed. I’m happy to be back.

We also have AYearaThon taking place during the duration of this week. They do a readathon for a week every month with a different theme each time. This month’s theme is adaptations. I’m very excited for this theme. I will be reading Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, four graphic novels for Locke & Key by Joe Hill, and (if time permits) The Passage by Justin Cronin.

April 5th to the 11th

So for the entire month of April, there is a Spring Into Horror readathon. I used to actively participate in these, but randomly stopped when I was feeling overwhelmed. I’m happy to be back.

We also have a Off The Gridathon taking place the 9th to the 11th. I’m very excited about that. We shut ourselves off social media and do nothing but read. I’ll obviously be working Friday and Saturday, but I will still be able to read and stay off the grid outside of work.

I’ve decided not to do a TBR pile for readathons unless they have challenges. I make a list every single month of books I want to read and I’ll just go off that. I actually need to start posting those on here. Might hold me more accountable to do them!

Readathon News: Vault-A-Thon

I’ll discuss the readathons going on during the week and ow I feel about them. I will also list my TBR for the readathon or each readathon. If none are scheduled or I’m not hosting my own, this blog will be skipped for the week.

There’s the month long BookTokAThon that I am participating in. You can find my TBR for that here.

This week there is a Vault-A-Thon going on from the 15th-21st. It looks like it will mainly be on Twitter. There wasn’t much information when I first discovered this. Now I see there’s a challenge list and there has been for awhile. I’ve got this.

March 8th-14th: AYearAThon with the theme of Standalones.

Entire month of March: BookTokAThon.

AYearAThon TBR:

BookTokAThon TBR:

Challenges:

  1. Read a book that BookTok has recommended you: Lore
  2. Read a book that you haven’t seen on BookTok: Complications of Pi (Reread)
  3. Read an Own Voices book: Wilder Girls
  4. Read a debut author’s debut novel: The Final Revival of Opal & Nev
  5. Read a book that has been on your TBR forever: Red, White, and Royal Blue

Note: I am aware that both TBR Piles are exactly the same. I was lucky to find books that fit both readathons fully. I believe in the motto: Work smarter not harder. The way I see it, I’ll either get my challenges for the month done this week or I will get a good chunk in. Either way is a win! Tell me if you’re participating in either of these. I’d love to see your progress!

Little Book Owl

This is all I managed to find so far. I haven’t decided if I want to check back in every month, take a break during the off times, or make my own. If you know of any that you think I might be interested in, please feel free to comment them! I’d love to know if any of you are participating in any of these as well! I’m excited!

Dewey’s Closing Survey

I know the event ended at 8 am. I am just posting this now because I was tired and basically passed out right after the event. I slept all the way up until work. This is the first chance I’ve gotten to answer the questions and post them. Hope you enjoy.

How would you assess your reading overall?

I wound up listening more than actually reading, but I think I did a very amazing job. I managed to read or listen to a book for 21 of the 24 hours. That’s pretty amazing. I was even very successful in keeping up with my progress every single hour! I finished two books!

Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it?

I made an hourly schedule out so that I could toggle reading and listening to audiobooks. That way I didn’t exhaust my eyes. I wound up altering the schedule, but I stuck with the alterations and stayed steady.

What was your favorite snack?

Jalepeno Cheddar Cheetos! They are just so yummy!

Wanna volunteer for our next event? Stay tuned for the recap post!

It would be a true honor. I put in five hours this time and it was the most amazing time for me! Interacting with everybody was just truly an experience!
