Writing Prompt: Adventure and Monkey

Friday had finally come. It had been a long boring week. School was boring. Home life was boring. I was just ready to get this week over with. I tried to get out of school every day this week, but it didn’t seem to be in my cards. My parents weren’t having any of it. They told me that being in a mood didn’t excuse me from getting out of school.

At least today was going to be somewhat decent. It was an adventure they called it. Whatever. We were in high school. Let’s call it what it is. We were going to the city zoo. I didn’t mind. I loved the zoo. It was one of the few good things this stupid place had to offer. The point remains. They should call it what it is. A field trip to the zoo. Not a damn adventure.

That’s how the people talk here though. They have to make everything sound so special. I guess they feel they have to make up for us living in a place so small that everybody knows everybody else and all their business. Most of the people here grew up together and would probably be stuck here for the rest of their lives. Not me though. I was out of there the moment I graduated.

“Brad! What are you most looking forward to seeing today?”

My attention snapped back to the classroom. I looked over at Brad. He was honestly one of the few things in this stupid place that I enjoyed. He wasn’t like everybody else. He stood out. He dressed boldly. He already had five piercings on his face and tattoos on his arms. He had to cover them with long sleeves, but still. I couldn’t wait to hear what he had to say.

“I think I’m looking most forward to visiting the monkeys. Even if we aren’t allowed to feed a single monkey a banana. How fucked up is that?”

“Language Mr. Pearson.”

“Sorry. It won’t happen again.”

“See that it doesn’t. I’ll let you off on a warning this time. Great answer though. Anybody else want to answer? Edith? We haven’t heard much from you all week.”

“We hardly ever hear from her. She doesn’t speak.”

“Enough, Brad.”

“Fine. I’m just saying. You pick on her a lot. It’s not nice.”

“I will reflect on that later, Brad. Thank you. Edith? Would you like to answer?”

“I’m looking most forward to seeing the tigers. They are the most majestic creatures at the zoo. They have the capability to destroy everything around them, but they choose not to.”

“Well…. That’s a very interesting answer. Thank you, Edith.”

“Not a problem. Are we able to listen to headphones while there like last time?”

“Wouldn’t you rather chat with your friends while enjoying the scenery?”

“She doesn’t really have friends. She thinks she’s above us.”

“Hey! I do not! We all just don’t have things in common.”

“Maybe if you bothered to get to know us, you would find we have plenty in common! But no. We’re not good enough.”

“Sarah! Edith! Enough! Brad, stop laughing!”

“Why? This is comedy gold. Not every day you see the preppy cheerleader get butt hurt over the misfit not wanting to hang out with her!”

“Not fair! I’m just pointing out that she doesn’t bother to get to know us.”

“I did. In middle school. We had nothing in common. Not much has changed.”

Sarah scoffed and started to open her mouth to retort. Luckily for me, the bell rang interrupting her almost tirade. While it would have been a spark of excitement for the week, I didn’t have the energy to get into another debacle with Sarah. She’s been trying to get me to join her group and to cheerlead since we were in the fifth grade. You’d think that she’d have given up by now. We’ll be graduating next year and I still haven’t shown any interest.

I gathered my things and prepared to leave. I typically waited until everybody else had left the room before leaving. Especially Sarah and her crew. There was no telling when they would try to ambush me thinking that ambush was the way to go to make me see the light of day. I was almost at the door when somebody grabbed my arm.

“You really should cut Sarah some slack. She seems to really adore you. Not that I can see why.”

“Our parents were best friends. She’s had it in her head since preschool that we should be best friends too. You saying you don’t like me?”

“Hey don’t put words in my mouth! I didn’t say that. And yeah. That makes total sense. It’s shocking she still tries.”

“You said you couldn’t see why she adores me.”

“Yeah. She. Not me. It’s obvious to anybody with a brain that the two of you have nothing in common. You and I however….”

“What could we possibly have in common?”

“Hang out with me during our lovely adventure and see.”

“Is that a challenge?”

“Would you accept any other way?”

“…. Fine. Let’s do this. You’ll regret it though.”

“I’m sure I won’t. Be prepared to be wooed, Miss James.”

Writing Prompt: Holiday and Planet

Salaris took one last look at the destroyed planet from her comfy seat on the spaceship. She couldn’t believe after all this time, her home as she knew it was destroyed. She had spent years with some of the best teams on the planet doing everything in their power to save their home. It didn’t work. The only thing they could do in the end is make sure that everybody was safely escorted off the planet before it imploded.

Of course, not everybody wanted to listen. There were some who chose to make fun of them and tell them they were crazy. She was sad for them, but she did everything she could possibly do to make them see reason. She decided not to dwell on the negative. She had persuaded quite a few to join her in safety. A good majority of them even helped build the ships needed.

Sadly, they weren’t out of danger yet. They needed to find a new planet to call their home and soon. Varya felt that Earth would be the best option. Salaris wasn’t fully on board, but she had to agree. Earth was the only planet in existence that fully matched their own planet. The only problem is that the earthlings on Earth were so hateful. She did countless hours of research. All she saw was earthlings hating other humans. It was depressing, but she wanted her people to live.

It took many weeks to reach Earth. Salaris took the time to make sure everybody was versed in everything they needed to know to adapt properly on Earth. She even re-educated herself on things. She found that while there were many hateful earthlings, there were also ones full of passion and love. She knew that if she could find a way to connect with them, her people would have a solid chance. She was hopeful.

It also turned out that they would be arriving on Earth during some holiday. It looked like a weird holiday to her. Why would anybody want to celebrate a year ending with explosions in the air? She just couldn’t understand it. I guess she should be more open minded. She was sure there were many holidays that her planet had celebrated that the earthlings would find weird.

“There you are, Your Majesty.”

“Oh Drogan. I do not feel that it is appropriate to call me that any longer. I have nothing to rule over.”

“You do. We are all your faithful followers. Not having a home does nothing to change that.”

“You are too kind to me. What would I do without you?”

Writing Prompt: Fun and Car

I sat in my car outside of Chandler’s house. Since I had gotten into it with his wife, I usually tended to keep my distance when possible. It was obvious I didn’t like her and that she didn’t like me. We both respected Chandler’s wish to keep civil when possible. Chandler and I have been friends since we were kids. We grew up together.

We met Candace in high school. He loved her from the moment they met. He was wild about her. I liked her okay at first. My opinion of her slowly changed the more we got to know her. She strung Chandler on for over two years before finally giving in and going on a date with him. It was another six months before she agreed to see him exclusively.

I knew I was in trouble after that. Almost immediately after they transitioned into a serious couple, she made remarks about how inappropriate our relationship was. She brought it up every chance she got. She was convinced that him having female friends would give others the wrong impression. She was big on how other people thought of the situation. She was also big on being judgmental of others.

The funny thing is out of all the female friends Chandler had, I was the least of a threat. I wasn’t interested in him. I wasn’t interested in anybody really. Chandler was the only one that really got that and accepted me anyway. It’s one of the biggest reasons I adored him and stayed loyal to him. He was like a brother to me and I loved him.

As time went on, a lot of his female friends faded off. Not all of them. There were ones that Candace approved of and got on really well with. She tried for the first several months to get him to stop hanging out with me. He tried to play nice at first, but eventually he put his foot down. He told her that she could accept me or they couldn’t be together anymore. She never brought me up again.

It wasn’t until I was in college, that I realized that there was nothing wrong with me. I was considered asexual. I also discovered that I was interested in being in relationships with others. I just wasn’t interested in having sex. After years of believing I was broken, it was a relief that I discovered something major about myself. It was even more relieving to know I was not alone.

Through college, I dated many people. Men and women alike. I enjoyed their company. There were a few I even came to love. Sadly, not being interested in sex was a deal breaker for many of them. They preferred to move on to people they could be more intimate with. I couldn’t blame them for it. It was college. We were supposed to be having fun.

Candace, who had always had a problem with me, developed an even bigger issue with me after I came out as asexual. She seemed to think that I was dirty and tainted. She was afraid that my lifestyle might corrupt Chandler in some perverse way. I never could understand her attitude, but I left it alone. She made Chandler happy and she dropped it when he asked her too.

Chandler and Candace got married a year after we graduated college. I was the best man. It was obvious to everybody that Candace wasn’t happy about that at all. Unfortunately for her, Chandler insisted. He refused to do the wedding at all unless I was the best man. As impossible she was, I was comforted by the fact that she would move mountains to keep him happy.

Things came to a head about a year after they got married. She had just found out she was pregnant. Apparently them having kids was the turning point for her. She didn’t want some freak of nature around her kids. I got fed up. I went off on her. I let out years of pent up emotion out on her.

Chandler wound up having to break up the argument. He made it very clear that we were both in the wrong. After trying to mediate between us for two hours, he conceded that we just wouldn’t ever get along. He made it very clear that he wouldn’t quit having anything to do with me, but that he wouldn’t force us to try to be civil to each other ever again.

It had been three years since the argument. Chandler and Candice wound up having twins and gave birth to two more children. They all love me. Candace and I have developed a small truce in regards to where we tolerate the other’s existence, but we barely speak. I try not to be around her without the children around if I can help it.

My thoughts were jolted back to the present as I watched Chandler open the front door. His body stance looked tense. He turned around to face me and I knew something was wrong. I watched him walk to the car and he got in and shoved the door shut forcefully, yet gently.

“Everything okay, Chan?”

“Let’s just get out of here. I’ll tell you on the way.”

“Are you sure? We can cancel if you-”

“The last thing I want to do is cancel. I need you.”

Writing Prompt: Forgiveness and Horse

Shannilyn woke up to darkness. She didn’t have to see to know that she was alone. Again. She was alone often these days. She knew in her heart that the marriage was over. If she were being honest with herself, the whole town knew about it. There wasn’t a person around that didn’t talk about his carrying on with the sheriff’s daughter. She’d known they were seeing each other for a long time.

It started shortly after her fifth miscarriage. People didn’t think she heard the gossip, but she did. She wasn’t blind or deaf. She just preferred not to confront him just yet. Shortly after he started seeing Rita, he stopped touching Shannilyn entirely. At first she was hurt. She didn’t know what she had done wrong. After her body started healing, she was relieved. She knew she would never have to deal with another disappointment.

Recently, there had been talk about Rita being pregnant. Nobody knew for sure, but some were almost positive that they saw her horse in front of the local midwives home. If she were, then Chase would be sure to be thrilled. He would finally have the son he had always wanted. Something that Shannilyn was never able to give him. If this baby came to full term, she knew in her heart that Chase would leave her and marry Rita.

Shannilyn never thought that she would need forgiveness for the miscarriages. It wasn’t something she could control. So, she was devastated when he came in one night and told her that she should be ashamed of herself. He told her that she had one job and she couldn’t even do that correctly. He even went as far as to accuse her of drinking tea to do it on purpose. She cried so much that night she didn’t think she would ever be able to cry again.

He left that night and never came home. There was talk that he was staying in Rita’s cottage, but nobody knew for sure. Both of them were suspiciously quiet. Shannilyn wished that the town could be just as quiet. She was already weary of hearing all of the talk. They were on her side and they supported her, but it was just too much.

Writing Prompt: Evil and Vase

Violet stepped out of her class. She was already exhausted and she wasn’t even halfway through her day. Classes seemed more brutal this semester. She wasn’t really surprised. She’s the one that just had to choose to take all of her hard ones all at once. She just couldn’t help herself. She was trying to get her mind off everything. Especially her.

She had two hours before her next class so she decided she wanted to go eat and just veg out. She wouldn’t think of her mountain of work for now. She would just enjoy a nice meal and peace and quiet. She took the moment to scope out the area to see what was the least busy place. She was happy to find it was the local taco place. Her mouth watered at the thought of tacos.

Stepping into the establishment, she noticed the vase that was centered on the reception table. It was beautiful. It was covered with Japanese flowers. She had never seen anything so beautiful. It made her want to pull out her sketchbook and take a sketch of it.

She had just put in her order when she felt it. A pit in her stomach. She knew there had to be some kind of evil lurking about. She couldn’t explain the feeling she got. She just knew that she was never wrong. She hadn’t felt it in awhile. She was just trying to assess if she should run off or stay put when she smelled the familiar scent of perfume that she knew all too well.

“Well well well. Look what we have here. Miss goody goody. How’s school going for you? Top of your class as usual?”

“Oh hello, Lexi. I didn’t think you were still around.”

“I have just as much of a right to be in this town as you do, bitch.”

“I’m not the one that left the coven to join the dark side.”

“Ugh. I’m so glad we broke up. I didn’t realize what a nerdy prude you were.”

“Thank you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have lunch to eat so I can get back to school. Unlike you, I actually give a damn about finishing my courses.”

“Whatever. Bye bitch. I was just leaving anyway.”

Writing Prompt: Doll and Cradle

Victoria stepped into the nursery for what felt like the hundredth time that night. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. She’d had the feeling since Marie and Tabitha were born, but not as strong as she was feeling tonight.

She looked over at both cradles and warning bells immediately went off in her head. One of the cradles was pushed against the other cradle. She slowly walked toward them. She wasn’t sure what she was going to find. She let out a breath when she found both girls sound asleep in one cradle and their dolls in the other.

She knew she should worry about the fact that the girls had been in their own cribs with their dolls on opposite sides of the rooms. RIght now, she was just thankful that they were safe and sound. She checked to make sure the window was secure before leaving the room.

She almost ran into Drew as she was leaving the room. He grabbed her to keep her steady. He had startled her so bad that she almost fell. They stood like that for just a few moments before either of them spoke.

“I woke up to find the bed and my arms empty. Are you okay my love?”

“Yes. Just checking on the girls.”

“Love, we talked about this. You have to relax. It’s all going to work out for the best.”

“I wish I had your confidence. These are our babies. If anything happens, what will we do?”

“Vic, it’s going to happen eventually. Wouldn’t you rather it happen now so that we can contain the situation and keep them safe?”

“They are barely two years old! How are they supposed to handle things they don’t understand at all?”

“They aren’t. That’s why we are here. We can protect them as they come into it all.”

“I know. I know you’re right. I was just hoping that we had more time. I knew it was going to happen eventually. Especially with as powerful as our families are.”

Without warning, Drew pulled Victoria into his arms. She had no idea how much she needed to feel his touch until his arms were around her and his hand was stroking her hair. Without warning, a tear slipped from her eye. Before she knew it, she was bawling onto his shoulder. They stayed like that for a few minutes. She was just starting to feel embarrassed when she heard a thump in the nursery.

They both released each other and bolted into the room. What they found took the breath out of Victoria. Marie and Tabitha were laying on the floor kicking their legs in the air and laughing. Hovering above them were their dolls. The dolls were dancing. Drew and Victoria made eye contact.

“Well, love, at least it’s not more sinister.”

“Drew! What if they released their hold on the dolls and the dolls came crashing down on them? What if we were still asleep? That’s it! I’m demanding we move their cribs to our room.”

“Love. You have to stop. If you worry too much, they will pick up on it. Who knows what that will do tho their powers.”

“Oh my god! You’re absolutely right! I might be hurting our babies! How cruel can I be!”

“Love! Stop it! You’re doing a great job!”

Writing Prompt: Ego and Island

Jessica huffed in annoyance. The dream vacation she had been planning for a year had quickly turned into a disaster. She couldn’t even begin to understand where everything went so wrong. One moment she was excitedly packing and going over the itinerary for the millionth time. She was bragging to her friends about the trip. She was convinced that this would be it. Chad was going to propose!

She had been dating Chad for six years. They had been talking about settling down for the better part of two years. In fact, the trip had been Chad’s idea. He had kept secret about it for the most part until a few days ago when he’d given her the itinerary of the trip. The fact that he went out of his way to plan this whole thing when he hated planning things is what made her think he was going to propose.

They were set to spend two entire weeks at a beautiful island that was practically across the world. Just the two of them. Chad had even rented an entire bungalow that would only be occupied by the two of them. They even had quite a bit of space between them and all of the other bungalows. She was so happy. She couldn’t wait to start the next chapter in their lives.

The first three days were perfect. They had nothing to do but enjoy each other’s company. He had left them three days to rest before they started attending things. They spent those days sleeping, making love, reading, and watching movies. It was heaven. She couldn’t remember the last time she felt so relaxed and so peaceful.

It wasn’t until the fourth night that things started going so horribly wrong. They were going to a beautiful breakfast on the island that was known for having tables out by the beach. She had on a beautiful strapless blue dress that made her look good and was comfortable. He immediately told her to change. He said that her look impacted the way others thought of the both of them. She was annoyed, but she did as he requested. Once they got there, she figured out why he was being the way he was. They were met at the restaurant by many of his college friends and their significant others.

As they were getting ready for dinner, she decided to ask him if they were going to be meeting anybody there. He got annoyed with her and told her there was. He couldn’t understand why she was being so weird about it all. The whole trip was so he could catch up with his buddies and have a great time before they all went their separate ways for good.

She was livid. She felt so humiliated that he didn’t bother to tell her that this wasn’t a trip for just the two of them. When she brought up the fact that she could have invited her friends had she known, he told her that she was letting her ego get the best of her. She screamed in frustration and shut the door in his face.

She came out ten minutes later to find that he had left without her. She found that she didn’t really care. She was still upset over the fact that he had made the entire trip seem like some romantic getaway only to find out that it was just one last trip for him and his buddies from college. She got that Nick and Drew had accepted major positions overseas and would be leaving soon. That’s not what bothered her. She loved that he was so close to his friends. What bothered her was him not telling her. She felt so stupid.

The rest of the trip went downhill from there. He tried to dictate everything she wore to everything. She told him to shove it and wore what she wanted to anyway. He made it a point to make sure she wasn’t sitting near any of the guys in the group. She was always between him and one of their girls. It was like he thought she was going to flirt with them or something. When she brought it up, he made some comment about how big of a flirt she was.

On the last few days of the trip, she faked being ill just so she wouldn’t have to go out with him and his stupid friends. She found that she didn’t really like any of them at all. They were all rude and arrogant. She also found that she didn’t like who he was while he was with them.

She didn’t like who he was when they were alone afterwards either. He kept comparing her to all the women that his friends were dating. Not in a favorable way. She was done with it. She thought she knew him, but he had her fooled. On the last night of the trip, she told him that when they returned that she would be moving out. She needed a break to reevaluate her life and her relationship with him. She was shocked when he readily agreed and looked relieved.

Writing Prompt: Spider and Train

The train was packed by the time Scarlett hopped on it. People were staring at her strangely. She knew she must look out of place with her full leather outfit. She was sure they were more curious about the belt of accessories than they were the outfit. She looked down to make sure she had everything she needed: cuffs, mace, pepper spray, flashlight, nightstick, and badge. It was all there. She let out a sigh of relief.

Scarlett had hunted her target for many months. She had gotten valuable information from a very reliable source that he would be here. There may be a chance that he would have some others of his group with him. She smirked at the thought of catching them all.

Scarlett was an intelligence agent for the paranormal forces of her division. She was one of the top agents in her division. She specialized in unusual paranormals. The most dangerous of the paranormals. Today she was hunting Spider.

Spider was the top fugitive her division was hunting at the moment. He was a vampiric wolf hybrid. Nobody knows exactly how his kind came into existence. There were flocks of them. Scarlet and her team had been working on rounding them up for years. All of them were given a choice. They could either submit to having a tracking device in them and agree to abide by the human-paranormal agreement pact or they would be destroyed forever.

Spider and his group had somehow found out about what Scarlett’s team were doing and have managed to evade all attempts of capture. They have caused chaos and destruction every time an attempt has been made too. Scarlett knew in her heart that if caught, they would choose to be destroyed rather than to submit. That’s just the kind of person Spider seemed to be. At least from the intel she gathered. She could only hope that they would all listen to reason and reform.

Writing Prompt: Angel and Passion

Ginger couldn’t believe her luck. After planning this night for months, she came home early to find Stacey in bed with her ex. She was angry. She was confused. Everybody warned her against dating Stacey. She didn’t listen. She thought Stacey was amazing. She thought everybody was being too harsh about her. It turns out they were right. They knew more than she did about what was going on with Stacey.

Stacey and her ex, Charlie, had been together for years. They broke up in a horrible way. Ginger knew because she and Stacey had been friends at the time. The break up caused the two to become closer. They never really planned on getting together, but the passion between the two of them was undeniable. Within a few months, they were talking every day. They were together a year later.

The argument that followed her finding them was fresh in her mind as she grabbed her coffee at the coffee shop. She had decided to leave and give them a chance to leave before returning. Stacey basically made it clear that she never took the relationship seriously. Even though she and Ginger had been together for three years. Even though they talked about marriage. She seemed to have it in her head that Ginger should have known that Stacey was still in love with Charlie. The engagement ring in her pocket told a different story, but Stacey had no idea about that. Nor would she ever know.

“Ohmaigawd. Ging. Is that you? Tell me it’s you!”

Ginger looked up to see a beautiful woman beaming down at her. Her hair was a rich dark chocolate and her eyes were a beautiful emerald green. She had on a beautiful pair of slender square glasses. Ginger’s breath caught. It was Angel. She and Ginger had gone to high school together.

“Angel! It’s so good to see you! What’s it been? Ten years? Wow. You look incredible!”

Ginger gestured for her to sit down at her table with her. She did and Ginger couldn’t help but be amazed by how beautiful she was. After all this time. Ginger had the hugest crush on her in high school. Of course she would have never told her that. Angel was the prom queen and had a lot of social standards to uphold. Even if she was friendly to everybody.

“You do too! How’s life treating you? Don’t tell me you’re married with a dozen kids!”

“Haha no. I’m even newly single. I’m actually gay. I came out my freshman year of college. What about you? Did you ever marry mister prom king?”

She chuckled nervously. “Well. Not really actually. He and I split up in college. Turns out he was only waiting to take my virginity. He was wanting to tell everybody he corrupted the angel.”

“That’s awful!”

“Yeah. It hurt a lot. But as time went on, I realized I wasn’t exactly innocent in the relationship.”

“What do you mean?”

“I used our relationship as a mask for the most part. I wasn’t really interested in him. Or any guys for that matter. So being with him was easy.”

Writing Prompt: Crime and Castle

I went to my bedroom and shut the door. I can’t believe I had finally talked my parents into updating things around here. They even agreed to install cable and internet. Apparently one of their friends informed them that a teenager these days couldn’t live without both. That they were now considering the internet a necessity. I wish I could find out which friend informed them of this so I could kiss them.

The only thing I couldn’t answer was how I knew about the latest technology. If they knew how I learned the things I knew, they would never let me leave the castle again. It’s not like I was really hurting anybody with what I did. It was still considered a crime though. That’s where they would be heavily disappointed in me.

At night when everybody had fallen asleep, my maid and I snuck into the village close to the castle and crept into houses at random. We took care to make sure the houses were empty so that we didn’t disturb some poor unsuspecting sleeper. We watched television and snacked on foods that my parents didn’t allow at the castle.

Bridget startled me out of my thoughts bursting in the door. She looked as excited as if it were Christmas or her birthday. I calmly waited for her to bring the excitement down so she could sit next to me.

“What is it, Bridget?”

“I just found out the news! I’m so excited. This means we won’t have to-”

I clamped my hand over her mouth quickly.

“Not so loud. People might hear.”

“Oh, blast! You’re right! I’m so sorry. I’m just so happy. I’m not supposed to tell you, but they are even letting you have a television in your very own room!”

“Really?!”

“Oh yes! Isn’t it amazing!”

“It is. What is it? Why do you look so funny?”

“I was just thinking how it would be easier to…. To….”

“To… what? Out with it!”

“The thing we like to do sometimes when we watch television. That we aren’t supposed to.”

“Cuddle? Kiss? Be together? Love each other?”

“How is it so easy for you to say?”

“Because I’m not ashamed of you, Brig. I’m not ashamed of us.”

“Then why don’t your parents know?”

“That’s different. They are just now coming around to the idea of technology. They will need more time.”

Bridget looked away, but not quickly enough. I saw the tears that formed in her eyes. My heart felt like it had been pierced. I never liked seeing her hurt. Especially knowing that I’m the one that caused the pain. I quickly pulled her into my lap and put my arms around her.

“Come now, love. Don’t cry. It’s going to be okay. You’ll see. I promise. I love you. You know that?”

“You can’t love me. I’m not in the same circle as you. And I’m a woman! All I’ve been to you is a good time.”

“Bridget Rose!”

“I’m sorry. That was crass. I didn’t mean it. I’m just scared. I’m scared you’ll find somebody else that you want the world to know about and you’ll leave me. I’m scared that I’ll always be just a secret love affair that you’ll one day forget.”

“Never. You’ve stolen my heart. I’m just scared. You know how my parents are.”

“I do. You’re right. Can you forgive me, love?”

“There’s nothing to forgive. I understand the anxieties and the fears. Let’s try to always talk them out. Okay?”

“Okay. Now tell me all the details about the installation. They even ordered televisions?”

“Oh yes! Well they had me do it. They didn’t understand the people on the phone.”

“Figures!”

“You’re getting a cell phone, too! I almost forgot!”

“What?!”

“Yes! I am too. They want to make sure both of us are reachable at all times.”

“Not fun. I’ll take it though. Especially knowing I have a way to communicate with you around the clock now.”
