I read this book for my library’s book club. I really enjoyed it. It has some twists and turns that I really enjoyed. I fully plan on reading it again in the future. It’s a book I stumbled upon awhile back and have wanted to read since. I’m very glad that I had an excuse to read it recently. I am also very impressed with how real and raw it is.
This is one of those rare books that has had my attention from the very first sentence. I will admit that I’m not very far into the book, but I know I’ll love it. Usually it takes me several rereads of a book to fully get into it. Some less than others. Not that there’s anything wrong with the book itself. It’s just that I get easily distracted (ADHD) and I have to figure out where I was again. I think it’s why I like series better than standalones. Either way, I’m excited about this book!
This book has opened my eyes on so many things that I didn’t fully understand. It has also answered so many questions that I’ve been afraid to ask. The things I’d be afraid of being attacked for being curious about. It’s a very easy and quick read. I purposely took my time with it by reading a chapter a day just so I could let every bit of it absorb. It made reflecting on each chapter very easy for me. I fully recommend this book. It’s really helped me so much.
I really love this series. I used to read every book the moment they came out as I could. I read the first twelve. I got involved with a lot of other reading and didn’t pay much attention to the series. I was shocked to discover how far behind on the series I’ve gotten. To date, there are now 21 books in the series. The 21st just released about two months ago. I pre-ordered it and it came to my house the day it was released. I will be catching up. It may take me awhile, but I’ll get there. This is one of my favorite series of all time!
She thought I was handing her my heart. What I really gave her was a hand grenade set to blow her world apart. Ours wasn’t your typical love story. Ours involved lies. A lot of lies. So many that at some point, I lost track of which ones were mine and which were hers. Falling in love with her was never part of the plan, not that I had a choice in the matter. From the moment we met, she captivated me, making me forget who I was and why I was pulling this job in the first place. I would have cut out my heart and begged her to take it if she hadn’t already stolen it, claiming it for her own. It no longer mattered who was conning whom. She made me believe the impossible—that we could be happy together. I should have known better. Con men don’t get happy endings. It was always going to end this way. I was going to break her heart in the cruelest way possible, leaving her no choice but to hate me. And that’s what I did, shattering my own in the process. I stayed away as long as I could, but a man can only live without his heart for so long. Now I’m determined to get her back and convince her the love we shared was real. But could she ever love a professional liar?
My mother and I are buddy reading this series. We are currently on book two. Almost done with it, actually. We both read the series before. She completed the series. I never did. I actually read it out of order the first time. I read books five through nine first and then the first four books. I can’t remember if I read more than that. It’s possible I read the tenth book. Because I had it in my head that the tenth book was the final book.
This is a pretty popular series. It’s probably more known for the television adaptation, True Blood. From what I understand, the tv series only follows the book series in the first season. After that, it went it’s own path. I can’t state for that. I’ve only seen various episodes. My mom’s watched almost all of them. She’s currently re-watching them now. I’ll probably watch them when we are done reading the series.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about the book or tv series. Please don’t feel the need to worry about spoiling it for me. I already know a good chunk about both from my mom. I’ll continue reading and will still watch no matter what I hear.
My mother and I have been buddy reading this book. We read two chapters every day and talk about it. We are twenty chapters in. I’m really enjoying it so far. I had a feeling I would. I listened to the audiobook for Brain On Fire. It was an intense journey through her illness that nobody could really explain or understand.
I have a feeling that that is what inspired her to do research about this. They had diagnosed her with Schizophrenia before somebody decided to do a spinal tap. The spinal tap led to the actual diagnosis and treatment that cured her illness.
This book talks about how a group of people checked themselves into mental hospitals pretending to be mentally ill. They changed their names and made up hearing voices. All of them were diagnosed with the same thing.
I think I’ll leave it at that. My calculations put us finishing this book on NYE. This could very well be the last book I read for the year. We shall see. Either way, I’ll have a review posted when I finish it.
It feels so good to make a Featured Book post again. They are one of my favorites to post about. I’m loving Hunting Prince Dracula so far. I’m about halfway through it. It doesn’t seem as intense and dramatic as the first book, but it’s just as good.
I can’t say the beginning of the book hooked me. I stuck with it because I knew it would pick up. I was happy to know that I was right. I can’t explain what I didn’t like about the beginning. It’s really hard to explain. It’s not just one thing.
Either way, I chose this book because I really just adore Thomas and Audrey Rose. They have this dynamic about them. I don’t mean that in a romantic way. I mean as people. They are two independently strong people. It helps that they make a great team, though.
I don’t want to write too much about this book just yet. Especially when I haven’t finished it. I’d love to know if anybody else has read this book/series and their thoughts of it. Hopefully, I’ll have a review up by the end of the year on the book! We shall see!
Sam is a full grown and trained dog who wishes for nothing more than to go home with a wonderful family. Day after day, he watches as puppies get adopted instead. One day, he finally gets his wish.
It’s known that I have no children. I do have three dogs who are my children in my eyes. I do love children’s books. They promote reading. And I’m very passionate about reading. I especially love books that have a strong moral like the one in this story. It makes me very emotional to think about it.
The illustrations on this book are so great. They are as great as the writing!
I will constantly promote children’s books as much as adult books because I feel that we need more readers in this world. If this is something you’d like to see on my blog, let me know. I’ll make it my thing for Saturday.
Dina DeMille doesn’t run your typical Bed and Breakfast. Her inn defies laws of physics, her fluffy dog is secretly a monster, and the only paying guest is a former Galactic tyrant with a price on her head. But the inn needs guests to thrive, and guests have been scarce, so when an Arbitrator shows up at Dina’s door and asks her to host a peace summit between three warring species, she jumps on the chance.
Unfortunately, for Dina, keeping the peace between Space Vampires, the Hope-Crushing Horde, and the devious Merchants of Baha-char is much easier said than done. On top of keeping her guests from murdering each other, she must find a chef, remodel the inn… and risk everything, even her life, to save the man she might fall in love with. But then it’s all in the day’s work for an Innkeeper…
I have really been enjoying this book. The first book was pretty great as well! I can’t explain how amazing both the story and narrator are. There are two more books in the series. I have them both on audiobook, but I plan to buy an e-book to read along with them as well. I also believe that this will be a series I reread at least one more time. If not more. I have added links to this book and the first book for anybody who wants to get a feel for it. The first book lets you buy the audiobook for $1.99 with ebook purchase.
