I picked up this book because I got an advanced copy of The Mother. I realized that it was the second book in a series. I’m the type of person that if there’s a series, I really try to read it in order when I can. Even if it’s a standalone series. This seems to be a standalone series. But I’m still glad I read this book first. Both books are modern day, but if certain things in history never happened. So we get a modern day America, but as if the British had never “discovered” the “New World”. It’s hard to explain without giving too much away. There’s also a murder mystery in the book as well. I really found this book very imaginative. I’m looking forward to reading other books that are written like this by this author too.
