I was very nervous to read this book at first. I think it’s why I put it off for as long as I did. This author also wrote the Caraval series. This is a spinoff of that of sorts. One of the characters in the trilogy is one of the main characters in this one. That’s another reason I was nervous about reading this book. I didn’t know how I felt about him in the trilogy, and I was worried that I wouldn’t know how I felt about him in this one too. While he was infuriating in many ways, I actually enjoyed reading a book with him involved. He’s quirky and very sassy. I’m going to read the sequel to this book eventually. I will probably need to reread this one by the time I get around to it. Maybe I could even read the Caraval trilogy again too! We will see.
