I read this book with my mom. We both read and loved Red Queen, but for some reason we had never continued the series. So we decided to finally get around to doing that. Reading this book made it very obvious that the first book was mainly meant to introduce the reader to the world and the characters. This series is a bit of a slow burn, but in a slow and then hurry up kind of way. If that makes sense. I felt betrayed when the characters I was attached to were betrayed. I felt betrayed also because a character that I was so attached to turned out to be somebody purely evil. I kept hoping things would turn around, but I was not lucky in that regard. I did love the fact that I got to know many more characters in this book than I did the first. Especially the red bloods.
