Story: This one was really hard for me out of the series. It hits some pretty heavy subjects. It also talks about the aftermath of things that happened in the case in the first book. This book is raw and realistic. If I’m being honest, the whole series has been. While they are all pretty much standalone books, they do better being read in order. I can say that you don’t really think of the ugly realities of things that happen. Not just things that happen in this book. In general. I digress. I did get a bit emotional over this book though.

Characters: I really adored Mercedes. She’s so tough, but she’s so sweet at the same time. She definitely has a soft spot for children. I didn’t like her girlfriend at all. She just didn’t seem to care at all about knowing anything dark or negative about Mercedes’ life. She didn’t care about helping her heal or anything. It was all about how things affected her. I’m also glad that we had a few references to the girls in this one! Including Priya!

Critiques: None

Narration: I really enjoyed it. Especially the parts that were intended to up the emotional factor.

Final Thoughts: Please be mindful of looking at what the book is about before reading it. There are topics in here that can trigger reactions to experienced traumas. Other than that, I fully recommend this book. I recommend this entire series. I completely love it. I’m sad I only have one book left to read!
