Review:
Story: I really wanted to like this book so much. I loved A Whole New World. It was a very interesting retelling. This one just wasn’t that great. I’m not going to say it’s the author or the writing. I really do like the writing and style. I think it’s just the story overall. I also didn’t connect with any of the characters at all.
Characters: This book is supposedly taking place in Aurora’s dream world. It’s just so weird. She’s not exactly a reliable narrator either. None of the characters are if I’m being honest. They all have very silly and shallow vibes about them.
Critiques: No critiques. I didn’t enjoy the book, but I didn’t find anything wrong with it in all honesty.
Narration: After reading the first several chapters, I wound up just buying the audiobook. It helped me a lot. The narrator made the book a little more interesting than just flat-out reading it. I’m not even going to lie. I almost DNF’d the book before I got it in audio. The narrator is the ONLY reason I didn’t.
Final Thoughts: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this book exactly. I just don’t think it’s my cup of tea. I fully encourage anybody who wants to read this to give it a chance. The author is a pretty amazing writer. I absolutely loved A Whole New World.
