Review:
Story: This is a very unique Snow White Retelling. It’s a story of two women who are different from everybody else in their world. One has a heart entirely made of glass. The other is made of snow. I’m going to be completely honest. I won this book awhile back and never really paid much attention to what the story was about. I went with my gut instinct that I’d love the book. I was completely right.
Characters: It’s really hard not to completely connect with both the girls in the story. Mina has a father who is just cruel beyond all cruel. He constantly let her know she’s nothing. On top of that, she married a man who will never truly love her because he will never be over his first wife. Then we have Lynet who everybody seems to ignore but Mina. I really connect with her the most. Especially when she struggles to discover who she is.
Critiques: None
Narration: I really enjoyed the narration. I kind of feel like I would have enjoyed it more if it was told in multiple narrations to really put distinction between the two points of view. That’s just me personally. It staying as is would still make it an amazing book.
Final Thoughts: I didn’t know this was a retelling when I first got it. I just knew that I was going to absolutely love the book. I did. This has to be one of my favorite retellings of all. To be fair, I haven’t really read a lot of retellings. I still feel like my stand on this will be the same after several more. It’s so unique. It gives a twist that really makes the reader think.
