Review:
Story: This is a middle grade retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I have to be honest, I was very hesitant to read this book. I read another book in this series that I didn’t really care for. With this being one of my favorite stories as a child, I was nervous that I may not care for it either. I was very wrong. Not only did I enjoy this book very much, I had to stop myself from reading it all in one sitting. From ignoring all of my responsibilities so that I could devour the book.
Characters: I really liked Belle in this retelling. I liked the Beast as well. He had a youthful innocence to him that I adored a bit. I would have liked to see more of my favorite characters than I did. Yes, they were in the book, but they didn’t play as big of a role as they did in the movies I loved so much as a child.
Critiques: None that I can think of off the top of my head.
Narration: I went back and forth between reading and listening to this book. The narrator didn’t do too bad of a job. He had a very soothing voice that definitely added to the story!
Final Thoughts: I am beyond thankful that I wound up enjoying this book. I’m glad that I decided not to get into my nerves and read it anyway. It’s a very cute and quick story. Had I not had a full schedule, I probably would have finished it in a few days. Maybe not even a day had I put enough focus on it.
