Story: This is a prequel to the Sword of Truth series. It tells the tale of how the first confessor came to be. It’s a story I’ve been curious about since I first started reading the series. This book has made me so happy. It met all my expectations. I’m so glad that I finally got to sit down and read it.
Characters: I’m really not great with names. So I’ll try my best here. First, we have Magda. She’s the main character of the book. She’s also who will become the first confessor. She was a very strong character, but she didn’t really believe in herself. The wizard that turned her into a confessor, Merit (I think), was a pretty amazing character as well. He had quite a personality and didn’t take anything from anyone. My favorite character of them all would have to be Tilly. She’s so loyal and so kind.
Critiques: None
Narration: Forgot the narrator’s name, but she did an amazing job. She made me feel like I was actually there.
Final Thoughts: While I don’t see this as a critical book to make the series make sense, I’m so glad I read it. I love to see where the backstories came from. Most people are okay with references. I love to see the back story as a whole. I fully recommend this book and the Sword of Truth series.

Story: I did like this story. I wasn’t in love with it. I’m not even fully sure if I will continue on with the series. For those of you who don’t know me, this says a lot. Especially since it ended with a cliffhanger. Usually, my instinct is to dive right into the next book immediately.
Characters: I only really remember the five main characters. We have winter and a group of four boys. I don’t remember their names. It was hard enough to keep up with who each of them was. Much less try to keep up with all of the side characters.
Critiques: The biggest issue I had was in the beginning. Winter goes to this party after her foster parents not letting her eat food from their fridge. She proceeds to leave the party after stealing a couple of grand and “orders Uber Eats”. I have two problems with this. For one, Uber Eats doesn’t allow you to use cash. I really don’t think she stole somebody’s card. Also, she fell asleep after making the order and the order was never spoken of again. Not a major issue, but it irked me.
Narration: Don’t remember narrators, but really enjoyed the narration. A lot. Full five-star rating.
Final Thoughts: I don’t hate this book. I really don’t. I just don’t love it either. There were things that really irritated me, and there were things that kept me on the edge of my seat so to speak. Also, there were certain phrases that just got repeated way too much. Like, could have made it a drinking game level. I still recommend this book. I may even read the rest of the series down the road. Who knows?
Date Finished: September 17th
Story: I seriously loved this story right from the very beginning. I’m going to be honest, I almost passed on it due to the cover. I didn’t think it would be a book I’d enjoy very much. I’m happy to say that I was very wrong. It’s a very big lesson in “don’t judge a book by its cover. I’ve learned it well. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series.
Characters: One of our main characters is Vivian. She wakes up in a morgue with no memory of her life or how she died. She only knew that she woke up a vampire. Our other main character is Grimm. He has discovered that there are vampires in the world. Something that hasn’t happened in a long time. They cannot exist. He decides to go and destroy the one he knows of. Vivian.
Critiques: I’m not a fan of the cover.
Narration: Great narration. I give it a full 5 stars.
Final Thoughts: I really am glad that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. I really loved both of the characters. I also loved how full of comedy the book had. There were so many quirky passages that I enjoyed very much that make it easy for me to say that I recommend this fully.
