Writing Prompt: Thrill and Computer

Cora just managed to hide inside the locker when she heard the footsteps right outside her locker. She hesitantly peeped out of the slots of the locker hoping that whoever it was wouldn’t see her. She couldn’t risk her curiosity. Who would be inside the locker room at this time of day? What could they possibly be wanting? Surely they knew that the gym had been closed for two hours?

She stifled a gasp as she realized who was standing before her. She shrank back in the locker barely daring to breathe. His being here wasn’t a good sign. If he knew she was there, she would be in real trouble. She prayed that she would be able to get out and sneak off soon. The thrill of the whole ordeal was wearing off quickly.

As soon as the thought had formed in her head, she heard a door slam in the distance. She squeezed her eyes shut not wanting to be where she was any longer. She wished she could teleport herself anywhere but here. She wanted to scream as she heard the footsteps getting closer and closer.

“What took you so long?”

“Don’t give me that attitude, darling. I am actually early.”

“I feel like I’ve been waiting here for ages. What if I get caught?”

“That, my dear, is not my problem. Did you bring the computer?”

“I’m not telling you that. Just know it’s in a safe location.”

“Not good enough. You will tell me where it is and you will tell me now.”

“Not until I get my money.”

“You see. That’s the problem with men. You’re all greedy scum. You want all the money. All the power. All the sex. You don’t want to give anything for it though.”

“I’m giving you information that could get me killed. It’s worth the money spent.”

“You’re right. This information could get you killed.”

Without warning, the woman plunged a knife into the man’s gut. She smiled as he fell down to the ground. She didn’t even notice when he looked over at the lockers. Exactly where Cora was. Cora noticed though. Her heart sped up. She thought it was going to jolt out of her chest at any time. Leaving the knife in him, the woman took his phone and his wallet.

“You don’t have to tell me anything. I have all the information I need right here. Trust me. I will find the computer. The information will be mine. I sincerely hope it takes a long time for you to perish.”

She left as quickly as she came in. Cora was panting and terrified. She didn’t know what to do. She listened for the door to close. Once it did, she sat for five minutes before coming out. She rushed right to the man she had known all her life.

“Brad! No!”

“There’s no time, Cora. You have to listen carefully. The computer is in our spot. Where we first kissed. Please take it and run. Leave this city. Hell, leave the country. Do not be found.”

“But what about you?”

“I’ll be fine. I pushed the emergency alert button on my watch. Go!”
