Writing Prompt: Fun and City

Stacia took one last look in the mirror. The blue dress she had on was sure to turn heads, but she was feeling uncomfortable. This was the first time she had been out in a long time. She refused to think about the last time she had been out or what had happened since. She was finally healing and didn’t want to open that wound up again. 

She took one last look at her phone. There was a major event that was going on in the city near her that looked like it would be a lot of fun. She was surprised to find herself actually looking forward to going. It was rumored there would be a concert held that would feature a lot of really popular local artists. There was also a food tasting section that was supposed to have foods from all over the world to try. She didn’t know much else about it, but that it would be huge.

Vanessa was suspiciously very tight lipped about the event. It wasn’t like her to not spill every single detail about big events in the area the moment she caught wind of it. That girl was a party animal through and through and couldn’t resist hitting every single event she could find. 

Now that Stacia thought about it, Vanessa had been acting really strange for awhile. It was like she was hiding something. She decided to call her. It rang four times before Vanessa actually picked up. Stacia was starting to think that she wasn’t going to answer at all. It gave her a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. Vanessa always answered within the first ring.

“Hey Sexy Stacia! What’s up?”

“Just getting ready. Are you sure this is going to be worth going to, Nessa? I’d hate to think I took tomorrow off for nothing.”

“Girl we are going to have so much fun! I’m so glad you’re coming out. I was so convinced I was going to have to come drag you out kicking and screaming!”

“You would not have had to drag me out. You’re much too persuasive for that. Actually, has anybody told you what a pain in the ass you can be sometimes?”

“You do practically all the time!” She laughed. “Actually, there’s somebody I want you to meet tonight.”

“Nessa…..”

“It’s not like that at all. I guess it’s just time to come out in the open with it. I’m seeing somebody. I have been for awhile. It’s been complicated to say the least.”

“I want to hear everything. Leave nothing out.”

“Later Stac. I promise. It’s just better in person. You’ll see.”

“Fine. Leave me in suspense. See if I care. Maybe I’ll be so bored with the story I’ll have the best night of sleep in my entire life!”

“I can assure you that you will find nothing about this boring. Am I still picking you up?”

“Yes. My car is still in the shop. Again!”

“Ugh! The nerve of those assholes! Okay! See you in an hour!”
