The Friday 56: Safe Haven

Grab a book, any book. Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader. Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it) that grabs you. Post it.

He turned into the makeshift drive and pulled as close to the house as he could. “I’ll bring the groceries to the door for you.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“You don’t know the way I was raised,” he said jumping out before she could object. He grabbed the bags and ran them to her porch. By the time he set them down and began to shake off, Kate was hurrying toward him, the umbrella Alex had lent her clutched in her hands.

This is a beautiful glimpse of basic human kindness. I guess some might even swoon over a very wonderful show of someone being a gentleman for a lady in need as well.
