Grief is tricky like that. It can lie low for hours, long enough for magical thinking to take hold. Then, when you’re good and vulnerable, it will leap out at you like a fun-house skeleton, and all the pain you thought was gone comes roaring back.
My Thoughts: This quote hit me on a personal level. My little sister passed away in 2006. I went through a dark time for a long time after that. I’m better now, but there are days that the pain hits me out of nowhere. It doesn’t feel like it’s ripping me apart anymore, but it’s there.

My Thoughts: I think we all have those times where we should have said something that we didn’t. When we do finally realize it, we think it’s too late. That the moment has come and gone and here we are wondering what could have been.
We’re standing in the ashes of a war like no other—if we don’t try harder to see the shades of gray involved, we’ll find ourselves in the thick of a new one.
My Thoughts: I could be wrong, but I think that it’s basically saying that if we aren’t willing to make compromises and do things that make us a bit uncomfortable, we will always find ourselves in war.
