About: Five girls were inseparable in school. They had just finished their seventh-grade year. Everything is going great until one of them goes missing. Three years pass and the other four have completely drifted apart. They all miss Ali, but they feel they really have nothing in common to continue a friendship. Emily has her swimming. Aria goes to Iceland with her family. Spencer strives to be completely perfect for approval from her family. Hanna completely changes herself over and becomes the “it” girl. Just as they are ready to move on with their lives, a horrible discovery happens, and then the threatening messages start.
Plot: For those who watch the show, the first book is basically a more drawn out version of the very first episode. With more to it, of course. It was a very quick and easy read. I enjoyed it very much. I also adored the old school technology references!
Characters: All four of the girls are likable and annoying in their own way. They also come off as rather robotic at times. I really feel that I connect with Emily so much. She comes off as a little too much sometimes because she’s so confused with who she is.
You know what they say about hope, it breeds eternal misery.
I’m still here, bitches. And I know everything. —A
It’s like you’re reading a book and every time someone’s tearing the pages.
They felt kind of like dolls, with Ali arranging their every move.
